Working on a Six Sigma project requires you to be a belt holder. There are different belts in Six Sigma and gaining even a single belt takes a lot of effort, including training and certification. And today the trend is Lean Six Sigma, which is based on Six Sigma but has a slightly different take. Once you get your Lean Six Sigma certificate, you are eligible to work on Six Sigma projects undertaken by your organization. And if you want to reach the pinnacle of achievement in this domain, you should look to obtain your ISSSP black belt certification.

The first belt that you get on completing the requirements of your Lean Six Sigma certificate is the green belt. Once you have this belt, you can support teams that are working on Six Sigma projects without being a part of the project. To be eligible to work on a Six Sigma project, you need a yellow belt. The next belt is the green belt where you are given the task of leading a project team. No matter which belt you have, you have critical roles to play in any Six Sigma project.

When you earn your ISSSP black belt certification, you really arrive in life. A black belt is a Six Sigma expert who not only knows about all the Six Sigma methodologies, but also trains and coaches the project teams. This person is more of a strategic person whose job is to resolve process related issues that can come up any time. When an organization has a black belt on their roles, they tend to be able to improve productivity as one after the other process is improved using Six Sigma methodology.

To get an ISSSP black belt certification, you need to follow a gradual process. You cannot become a black belt overnight. First you will need to obtain the other belts and only then can you expect to become a black belt.

Many are confused about the Six Sigma certificate and the Lean Six Sigma certificate. Honestly, there is not much of a difference between the two. The concept of Six Sigma was introduced in 1986 and the concept of Lean Six Sigma was introduced in 2002. Lean Six Sigma follows the same DMAIC model. The only difference in Lean Six Sigma is that eight different kinds of wastes are eliminated to make a process more robust.

For every process, there are certain customer requirements. Lean Six Sigma focuses on eliminating all those elements that don’t offer any value to the customers. These elements are known as muda in Japanese and when you form an acronym with these elements, the word you come up with is DOWNTIME. Needless to say, when you get your Lean Six Sigma certificate, you are able to work on these projects and improve productivity and customer service.

The ISSSP black belt certification is an important certification. Focus on the gradual process of obtaining your Lean Six Sigma certificate and you will reach there.

Once your get your Lean Six Sigma certificate, you can start your journey toward getting your ISSSP black belt certification.
