Calories Burned in Soccer Play

If you are looking for an alternative exercise to burn calories and alleviate exercise boredom, grab a soccer ball and go outside. You do not have to play professional soccer or even understand the rules of the game to move your body and burn calories. Plus, when you practice kicking a soccer ball, you improve your balance, muscle strength and cardiovascular endurance.
Soccer
Soccer uses both small and large kicks to move the ball. Small, quick kicks are considered dribbling and move the ball up and down the field. To dribble, begin with the ball on the ground in front of you. Kick the ball forward with the inside of your right foot, but only kick hard enough that you can quickly run to and kick the ball with the inside of your left foot. Keep alternating kicks as you move the soccer ball forward. A large kick is used to move the ball to the net. You are able to do this from your dribbling with one large kick at the end. Lift your kicking foot behind your body and quickly straighten your leg with force to kick the ball.
Weight Loss
Playing soccer burns calories and builds muscle tissue. More muscle tissue and a reduction in calories lead to weight loss. A study at the University of Copenhagen followed approximately 20 women as they participated in hour-long soccer play twice a week. The women increased the capillaries in their muscle tissue, improving circulation, and also increased the muscle mass in their legs by 8 percent. The more muscle tissue you have, the more calories your body burns to maintain the muscle fibers.

Kicking a soccer ball Nike Tiempo Legend IV Elite [http://www.buynewcleats.com/nike-soccer-cleats-1/nike-tiempo-legend-iv-elite.html] and then running to chase the ball burns a high number of calories. According to Weight Watchers, one hour of soccer play on the beach burns approximately 500 calories for a 150-pound person. If you weigh more than 150 pounds, expect to burn a slightly higher number of calories. If you weigh less, expect to burn a slightly lower number of calories.
Exercise Variations
To kick the ball over and over again, use a rebound goal that bounces the ball back to you. You still may have to run to chase the ball if you miss the goal. Another way to perform repeated kicks is to use a wall and kick the ball against the wall. It bounces back and you kick it again. Vary the strength of your kicks so that the ball stays low or goes higher onto the wall.
