How to choose an air conditioner installer on your own and not miscalculate? Ten recommendations

Posted by Afrina Rose on October 7th, 2022

In this article, we will analyze ten criteria by which, with a 99% probability, you will make the right choice of an air conditioner installer. All criteria are based on long-term work experience (more than eight years).

1.

Choose a climate company. It is a company that has a legal entity. LLC or IP. A split system is a complex technical device with many parts, a mechanism, electrical connections, and electronic mechanisms. All this can break. There is a warranty to protect you in the event of a breakdown. But in the climatic sphere, manufacturers carry out warranty repairs through the seller. Those. Whoever sold the air conditioner to you bears the warranty. Often, freelance installers, having worked out the warm season (and in St. Petersburg, it is quite short), get hired, and the SIM card with the phone is thrown away to protect themselves from calls from disgruntled customers because. Now they have no time to make warranty trips.

2.

The company must have a staff of Air conds installation in Malaysia. If a company has its installers, it monitors the quality of the work performed, purchases high-quality materials, and provides installers with professional tools, overalls (usually branded), and cars. In pursuit of savings, some companies (especially young ones) do not keep staff and use the services of crazy teams that install air conditioners in the summer and work in taxis in the winter. The tool they use, as a rule, is of a household level, and the material is cheaper. They can buy a thin-walled copper pipe to manufacture freon pipelines or even aluminum, which is not recommended in domestic air conditioning systems. Because of this, freon leaks may appear, and the air conditioner begins to freeze and cool poorly.

3.

The company must have its industrial climbers. If you live above the first floor, you will need an industrial mountaineering service to install a split system outdoor unit. These are works at height to lay communications, installing an external split system unit, electrical connection, evacuating the system, and other works. The regular climbers of the climate company carry out these works DAILY, and what you do every day, you do better every time. Hired high-altitude workers do work with air conditioners occasionally. Most of the time, they mount advertising, paint facades, and wash windows - the quality of the installation is appropriate. But the worst case is when they hang air conditioners without a climber "under the window." Firstly, snot from communications will hang on your wall from the hole. As a rule, they are not fixed because they cannot reach them out of the window. This looks unaesthetic, and you will most likely be issued an order to dismantle an improperly mounted system. Secondly, it is unsafe because the installer may fall out of your window. And thirdly, it is quite difficult to install the block with high quality, flare the tracks, and tighten the nuts - the installer does this upside down and on outstretched arms (blood rushes to the head, coordination deteriorates, hands tremble, and so on). Therefore, quite often, with this installation method, critical errors are made. Hands are trembling, etc.). Therefore, quite often, with this installation method, critical errors are made. Hands are trembling, etc.). Therefore, quite often, with this installation method, critical errors are made.

4.

The company must exist for at least five years. New air conditioning companies come and go every year. Almost every air conditioner installer tries to open his own. They think it's very easy to run their own business. In the summer, there are more than enough customers, but customers disappear AT ALL when the season is over. And then, such companies are quickly closed and no longer fulfill their warranty and contractual obligations. If the company has existed for three seasons, it knows how to work with clients, and customers recommend it. After five years of work, such a company has a stable workflow, and all business processes are well established. And it is very important to accumulate statistics on breakdowns of different brands of air conditioners. Specialists of an experienced company will recommend the equipment guaranteed to work out its service life.

Checking the age of a company is easy. Enter the TIN into the search engine, and on the first site, you will see data on the first registration. You can also find out the age of the site domain through the WHOIS service.

5.

The installer and seller of the air conditioner must be in one person. If they are different and some breakdown occurs, it will be difficult and long to find the culprit. Installers will talk about the poor quality of the split system, and sellers will refer to the unprofessionalism of the installers. In some cases, it comes to examination and even court. By the way, for the same reason, installers charge more for installing client equipment. So the savings on the price of the air conditioner is offset by an increase in the installation cost.

6.

The seller must be an official dealer of the supplied equipment. Check with the seller for a certificate of the official dealer of the brand. This means that you will receive a full warranty, which can be up to 5 years. The official dealer has the right to carry out service maintenance, which also affects the warranty period. Buying from a dealer also guarantees the originality of the equipment and the availability of certificates of conformity.

7.

The installer company must have its service department. Only in this case can he carry out official service. You need to undergo maintenance regularly (at least one less than once a year) and only at a certified service; otherwise, you will lose the warranty. Information about this should be on the warranty card. After the service, you must put a mark - everything is like with a car.

8.

The company should have reviews on the Internet. Look at the reviews on the main sites: Yandex, Google, 2GIS, and Flump - on these sites, all reviews are checked for accuracy, so you can most often trust them. See if there are negative reviews and how the company reacts to them. In itself, the presence of negative reviews does not mean that the company is bad. But if they speak about it more often negatively than positively, you need to consider whether it is worth ordering something from such a company. If there are no reviews, this is also an alarming bell - the company has just organized or, for some reason, changed its name.

Don't order at the lowest price. If someone offers you to install the cheapest on the market or even for free, there is ALWAYS a catch. Or they use the cheapest consumables, such as thin-walled copper pipe (some even use aluminum, which cannot be used for installing split systems - the main argument of such installers is "well, in the car, there are aluminum pipes in the air conditioning system"), combustible electrical cable, garden hoses to drain condensate, or they can even mount the route without the use of thermal insulation, cable channels, and other mandatory materials. Often, such companies do not include the installation of tracks at all in the cheapest installation. You will learn about this when you are presented with an estimate of 2-3 times higher than the original one.

Some particularly enterprising businessmen (there is no other way to call them) offer a mandatory paid procedure, "refueling with refrigerant." The air conditioner will not work without filling. Do not be fooled - EACH air conditioner is charged with refrigerant (in other words, freon) on an inter-unit route at least 10 meters long. The most daring ones bleed the refrigerant from the split system before selling.

We also encountered "entrepreneurs" who installed air conditioner units without laying an inter-unit route, took a fee, and disappeared. It would be superfluous to say that without a freon line, the system will not cool; at most, it can be used as an expensive fan.

Be vigilant - do not let yourself be deceived!

10.

See photos of completed work. A climate company that has been operating for a long time ALWAYS has an extensive portfolio of finished works. As a rule, it is posted on the company's website. If the portfolio seems insufficient, ask for additional photos to be sent to you. So you can evaluate the quality of the work performed and ensure the selected company's experience.

For each recommendation given, we have several stories from practice, our own, and colleagues in the shop, which we are ready to share with you. Most recommendations can be applied when choosing a contractor for construction and engineering work. We wish you good luck with your choice.
