Located in Nevada County, California and situated only fifteen miles north of fabulously beautiful Lake Tahoe, the town of Truckee is a nearly perfect place to live. There are fifteen golf courses and a number of excellent skiing resorts. During the winter, sports include sledding, ice skating and even sled dog tours. Favorite summer sports include biking, hiking, camping, fishing and riding.

If security is an issue, living in Truckee is an exceptional choice. Truckee’s crime rate is lower than seventy-four percent of the rest of the US and is actually decreasing. 

The population of Truckee is approximately 16,000 people and the number of schools is proportional, with less than 4,000 students. With two high schools, one middle school, and four elementary schools, all public, school scores still remain high.
