• If you are living in Quebec province, you must meet the Quebec conditions.

Keep in mind that you will not be allowed to sponsor your spouse in Canada if your relationship with your partner is not at least a year old.

Your spouse can visit you on Canada Spouse Visa from India if they meet the following criteria -

• If they are 18 years or above. 

• If they are legally married to you or are in a common law relationship.

• If they possess a marriage certificate issued by the state, provincial government, or territory (if the marriage was in Canada.)

• If the marriage was outside Canada, then it must be validated according to Canadian law.

• If they don’t have any criminal records

• If they don’t have any critical health conditions. 

• If they can convince the immigration office that their stay is temporary.

How to Apply to Sponsor Your Spouse in Canada?

Follow these steps for applying to sponsor spouse in Canada -  

Step 1 - Download and Complete Application

Download, answer all the questions, upload the supporting documents, and then digitally sign the application along with your spouse. The spouse will upload them to their online application electronically. 

Step 2 - Pay the Fees and Submit the application

Pay the application fee online, which will include your processing fee for you and your spouse, the biometrics fee, the medical examination, and a police clearance certificate. 

Step 3 - Additional Information about the spouse 

During the processing of Canada tourist visa applications, the authorities will ask for the following documents of your spouse. 

• Medical exam certificate

• Police Clearance Certificate (which is needed to be submitted at the time of applying).

• Biometrics (for which they are given 30 days in person at their closest collection point).

Processing time of Canadian Spouse Visa

The estimated processing time for a Canada Spouse Visa from India is about 12 months. However, if any information or document is missing, the application will be rejected. The IRCC will resend it to correct and then re-submit it.
