Why won my tomato plants produce tomatos?

I have 7 tomato plants that are approx. 3 1/2 -- 4 months old but no tomatoes??? I have had one of the plants (that was store bought) produced a total of 3 tomatoes all at the same time but the last tomato took almost 20 days longer to get red. There is a mixture of beefsteak type of tomatoes and cherry. (The three I had so far were cherry) Most of the other plants will make flowers but after a couple of days the flowers die and no tomatoes? What the heck. I water regularly, sometimes forgetting for a day but luckily it rains a lot so when I forget nature takes over for me. They all have about the same shade and they aren really wilty. I don think it root space because they were planted about 36 sq inches apart. Now the one (which I grew from seeds) is pretty small but it in a very shady spot compared to the others and I didn really expect it to grow anything or even survive. When planting I didn take into account the amount of shade the fence was providing in that specific spot. Anyways what the deal, there is this bug(s) in my garden that keep leaving their exosceletons around that just look like beatles. Could this be the source of the problem? And I have seen bees, so I don think pollination is the problem- All answers greatly appreciated. Thanks :)

Make sure your tomatoes get enough light and heat. I think it one of the reason why trellises are set. They are little light-and-heat-eating monsters. I not growing them outdoor, but I heard that tomatoes can even stand any breeze. Therefore, I figured out the best way to grow tomatoes and save troubles is to use some professional grow lights. Nowadays technologies have already provided us some good grow lights at a reasonable price. As to me, I trying this Best LED grow light and found it working great with my plants.
