Northwest Arkansas Social Security Disability Law

Posted by Meghan Gallo on December 8th, 2020

Social security disability laws are rules and regulations that are in place to decide who can qualify for SSDI and SSI benefits. These benefits are for people who have become disabled and are unable to work for at least one year. Social security disability insurance is only available to those that have paid enough in taxes and have not reached retirement age.

To be eligible for SSDI and SSI there are specific requirements that a person applying needs to meet. SSDI has a different set of requirements than SSI does. SSDI requires that you have a certain amount of work credits accumulated prior to becoming disabled. This is usually determined by your earnings. To be eligible for SSI the person applying must have an income level that is below a certain amount. This amount is known as the federal benefit rate.

If you are looking to file a claim for SSDI or SSI there is no trouble doing so yourself. One can simply go to the SSA office nearby and begin the process. But if your claim is denied and you want to appeal that decision you should consider hiring a Northwest Arkansas social security disability attorney to help you with your appeal. Having an attorney help you with your denied appeal will help you have a stronger case when trying to secure benefits.
