HIPAA and ADA - challenges met when developing for healthcare

The development of healthcare software has a lot of benefits to a business. Healthcare professionals are always searching for ways to optimize their work and secure their patients. However, the developers met a lot of obstacles when they were creating mobile apps for medical professionals.

One of the most important things you should remember when developing for the US market is HIPAA. HIPAA is the act that covers the rules and regulations on how the data should be stored and distributed throughout the medical software. That's why before starting the development process, you should learn how to make an app HIPAA compliant.

If you are planning to create an application for another market, you might probably find regulations similar to HIPAA. It happens because a lot of countries followong the same security measures as HIPAA known to be the best standard of security.

Another act you should be aware of is ADA. ADA refers to Americans with Disabilities Act. This act covers the user interfaces recommendations, so it should be followed by the designing team. For the US healthcare professionals, legal entities and other similar businesses following ADA is mandatory, otherwise they may get penalties from local authorities.
