Muslims fast in the Holy month of Ramadan which is crucial in Islam. The word Ramadan derives from the Arabic root “ramad”, which means scorching heat. It indicates the desire of a true believer to communicate with Allah (SWT). Fasting is not simply a matter of refraining from food and drinking from dawn to dusk. The main purpose of fasting is to cleanse your soul and to become a good human being by following the path of Islam. This month burns your sins if you ask forgiveness and fast with the pure intention of pleasing Allah. These last days of Ramadan possess a special sentimental value in Islam. Moreover, if you fast and pray in front of Ka’bah it becomes more virtuous. Muslims specifically go to perform Umrah in these last 10 days so they can get unlimited rewards from God. Ramadan is a month of faith enlightenment and reclamation for Muslims, in which we seek to increase our worship, positive actions, and gestures of kindness & compassion. If you perform Umrah in this month, it is equivalent to Hajj and the last Ashra is quite substantial as Ramadan was about to end. Muslims worship Allah day and night to please Him. Allah shows His great grace and mercies to His believers, particularly in these 10 days. Want to spend the last 10 days of Ramadan while performing Umrah? You can consult many tour operators who are providing amazing economical last 10 days Ramadan Umrah packages and get benefit from it. It’s a chance to replace your bad deeds with good deeds. Allah always hears your concerns and apologies and respond to them at the right time. These last days have a special place in everyone’s heart because every moment of it is precious.

In a Hadith narrated by Aisha (R.A):

“With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet (ﷺ) used to tighten his waist belt (i.e. work hard) and used to pray all the night, and used to keep his family awake for the prayers”. (Sahih al-Bukhari 2024)

Following are some points showing the significance of performing Umrah in the last 10 days of Ramadan:

  •          Seeking Laylatul Qadr

The Night of Qadr is a hidden blessing during the last ten days of Ramadan. It is one of the most sacred nights. This night is to be discovered in the odd nights of the last days of Ramadan, and the attributes and benefits of this night are greater than a thousand nights. On this night the Quran was revealed to our Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W). Muslims tend to recite Surah Al Qadr repetitively at night. It is mentioned in a Hadith narrated by Abu Hurairah:

"The Messenger of Allah said: 'There has come to you Ramadan, a blessed month, which Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has enjoined you to, fast. In it the gates of heavens are opened and the gates of Hell are closed, and every devil is chained up. In it Allah has a night which is better than a thousand months; whoever is deprived of its goodness is indeed deprived."'(Sunan an-Nasa'i 2106)

  •          Performing I’tikaf

Many Muslims prefer to spend the last ten days of Ramadan in solitude (i'tikaf), where one emphasizes entirely on worshipping Allah and abstain from participating in worldly activities. It is the Sunnah of the Prophet (P.B.U.H) to spend these last nights in Masjid and pray a lot. People choosing I’tikaf stay in Masjid all the time and pray different Zikr, Nawafil, recite, and study the Quran to please Allah Almighty. They are not permitted to go outside except in an emergency case. They tend to eat and sleep in Masjid and their families to care for their necessities. Mostly I’tikaf consists of 10 days but it can be done for a shorter time period. Most people who perform Umrah stay in Masjid Al Haram and collect unlimited benedictions of Allah (SWT).

  •          Alms Giving

The last ten days of Ramadan are a chance to earn numerous benefits by offering Sadaqa to those in need for the purpose of seeking the gratification of Allah. Muslims all over the world do charity these days as Hazrat Muhammad (S.A.W) also increases giving it. In a Hadith narrated by Ka'b bin Ujrah:

“Salat is clear proof, and Sawm (fasting) is an impregnable shield, and Sadaqa (charity) extinguishes sins just as water extinguishes fire”. (Jami` at-Tirmidhi 614)

  •          Chance to Expiate Your Sins

Try to pray as much as you can. Recite surah from the Quran and understand them deeply. Instead of praying those you already know try reciting the longer ones in depth. Repent to Allah and tell Him how much you are ashamed of your bad deeds. He is merciful and will definitely forgive you because of your purified intentions. In a Hadith Abu Hurairah narrated that:

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] said: "Whoever stands (in the voluntary night prayer of) Ramadan out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven. And whoever spends the night of Lailat Al-Qadr in prayer out of faith and in the hope of reward, his previous sins will be forgiven." (Sunan an-Nasa'i 5027)

The reward of all the above practices gets doubled when you also perform Umrah in these days and get the chance to fulfill all these by staying close to Allah Almighty. No doubt that the last Ashra of Ramadan is a huge blessing and only the fortunate ones get the chance to spend it in Makkah while executing Umrah.
