Looking to de-stress? Go camping near Pune!

One of the best decisions I’ve made is to marry a guy that loves camping just as much as I do. We live in Pune and have the weekend off from work so we keep exploring new places to go camping near Pune. We have camped near Rajmachi fort, Kolad, Sandhan Valley to name a few, but our new favourite is Pawna Lake camping. We love the feeling of escaping into nature, usually pairing camping with other adventure activities like trekking, paragliding or rafting, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Our first Pawna Lake camping experience was quite memorable because it was my husband’s birthday and I wanted to give him a surprise along with my in-laws. My in-laws were staying with us at the time so it was the perfect opportunity. My husband and I had gone camping a number of times but I was quite apprehensive about my in-laws and if they will be comfortable. So I spoke to the host and she assured me that we will have a great time, and she even made arrangements for decorations and a cake which I had requested.

We checked in at around 4 in the evening and were welcomed by the host wholeheartedly and she explained to us in detail about the place. We were then allotted our tents. We freshened up and the most important part was that the washrooms were clean and dry. We were offered tea and snacks after that.We then went to the lakeside to enjoy the beautiful sunset dissolving into the waters of the lake. Soon we gathered around the bonfire where the barbeque was also set up. It was an amazing experience sitting around the bonfire with my family. There was music playing and we started dancing, it was a very lively atmosphere. My family was pleasantly surprised and so was I looking at them enjoying in most uncharacteristic ways.

Soon it was time for dinner and it was simple but delicious campfire food. As soon as we polished our plates, the camp leader announced us to gather again and brought out the surprise cake I had arranged for my husband. We cut his cake along with all other fellow campers and they were all excited to clap and sing for him. The children at the camp were especially excited as they were not expecting to have cake tonight! I was so happy that not only my husband enjoyed himself but so did my in-laws. The hosts made us feel very comfortable and we had a lovely dinner. The tent was quite warm and we were very comfortable throughout the night.

After this trip my husband and I made several trips to Pawna lake. This has been my best experience camping near Pune. On our first trip we weren’t able to do other activities but we made it a point to try each one out on our other trips.

I have persuaded many friends to join us and they found it quite serene as well. We went for a trek to Tung Fort, Lohagad Fort and Tikona Fort. Once we reached the top we got a beautiful view of the lake and the hills around. We just spent some time at the top and felt completely at peace. On one of the trips we even went rappelling. It is the perfect weekend getaway and I always recommend this place to everyone. It’s a great place to go camping near Pune with friends and it turned out to be a very relaxing and fun place to meet.
