Saying ?thank you? with style

Your bridesmaids have invested their time, money and mental energy to make your wedding the best; the bridesmaid’s gift is the traditional way to thank them for their efforts. But what should you choose, and what should drive your decision?First things first – establish your budget. If you’re spending a king’s ransom on every other aspect of the wedding, don’t go on the cheap for your bridesmaids’ gifts (they’ll notice). Not that it’s all about price, glitz and glamour. A gift with meaning will have much more impact – and be that much more appreciated – by your favorite gals. So: some ideas. A keepsake piece of jewelry – preferably something your bridesmaids can wear on the big day – is always a good choice. A Pandora charm bracelet, with starter charms to symbolize your friendship (you can even customize charms to correspond to the interests of each bridesmaid), is a gift they’ll love (and more importantly, wear) for years to come. Or get matching necklaces or earrings that coordinate with their bridesmaids’ dresses.Other popular gifts include monogrammed tote bags (filled with goodies); a silver or silver-plate compact mirror, engraved with her name; a beautiful frame with a special picture inserted; a keychain; personalized stationary; or a vase or special drinking glass, or set of two glasses. You can also get creative with a gift that symbolizes the interests of you and your bridesmaids. Examples include a special hardcover coffee table book filled with your favorite artist’s work or photography; an iPod filled with your favorite songs (you can also have these engraved); a bottle of each gal’s favorite perfume; or even a donation to a charity in each bridesmaid’s name (choose a cause you know is close to her heart.)Of course you can also help your bridesmaids out in other ways, like buying their dresses and shoes, or footing the bill for their spa treatments or lodging. Although these things are not traditionally expected, if you have the funds (and your bridesmaids are cash-strapped), it’s a sentiment that will be highly appreciated.Remember, though, it’s the thought behind the gift that ultimately counts – so don’t sweat it if your budget is limited.
