Houston Northwest Church: Organism or Organization?

Social conflicts arise when you don’t know which ideology to prefer: organism or organization. Though, at one of the Houston Northwest Churches, The Light House Church, you will be taught the right knowledge about both ideologies. Most pastors like Senior Pastor Keion Henderson and his team deliver sermons in that respect regularly.

The difference between the two ideologies:

The perspective of growth:

Considered the organism, or an individual, the growth is limited. A human being is often lauded as a social animal. Therefore, even the most perfect human being is incomplete without socializing and depending on others. Therefore, when we talk about organizations, the growth aspect, there is boundless.

An organization is an artificial entity. It continues for a long time and runs on the going concern principle. In an organization, people come and go. They contribute, learn, execute, and grow on their paths even faster while working in an organization.

However, an individual will fall short of one thing or another at any random stage of life. At that point, they will need other’s help.

Ego or empathy:

A single person would value ego. But the organization, when it grows on you, teaches the value of belongingness and empathy. You value emotions, feeling of togetherness, and culture with an open mind.

But such beliefs are impossible if you are just an organism. If you have to grow your mind, body, and even soul’s horizons, you have to emotionally, physically, and spiritually connect/grow with others. That happens without limits in an organization. It could be a community, society, or a formal group in a firm.

Whereas, an egoistic individual would always seek the betterment of himself before others. And empathy teaches you to be the opposite. It makes you stronger when you learn to care for yourself and others at the same time.

Leadership aspect:

An organization needs a leader. But the organism is a leader to himself. An organization can help a leader with a different perspective, narratives, discussions, and problems. This is how a society or an economy works.

But an individual has to hone his or her observational skills. These skills seldom are objective. Eventually, one individual thinking only about himself as an organism will fall into the pit of sins like gluttony, greed, lust, sloth, and others.

But if you consider leadership as an organizational concept, then there are followers who passively help every individual to be proactive.

Everyone in an organization would want to be the chosen leader. For that, they will compete and increase healthy competition. This eventually leads to multiple synergies and productivity, which is missing in an organism.
