Here's how individuals become leaders, and what they have that makes them suitable for this position.

So what does it take to function as the leader of a state? This can actually be quite a difficult job in the big picture, having to cope with problems at a national along with the international scale, having to represent the interests of one's country and all of the citizens. That will require an exceptional strength of character, that the great leaders of today like for example Jacinda Ardern can attest to. Being well loved by your fellow citizens is absolutely not easy in any way, and as the great saying goes, those who do not want to be in power could be just the greatest leaders. The qualities of leadership at a national level have been handed down for centuries from leader to leader: strength, compassion, drive. Remaining loyal to your line and yet foster unity at the national level.

How should the qualities of great leaders in history inspire us right now? Although our world changes pretty fast, leaders remain extremely important in our society, and additionally they retain their qualities to actually guide people through moments of difficulty. Take Greta Thunberg, young activist who displays the same determination, emotional maturity, and ability to capture a crowd that the leaders of the past also had. That's the reason we've got to not simply refer to our national leaders for guidance, but also make sure we look around and spot the beacons in civil society, spot who has brilliant ideas on what our society should really be and what it should look like. They may even be the national leaders of tomorrow, and for that we must pay attention to them. Female world leaders especially are only growing, so we must keep up to date with their progress.

What do the great leaders of the world share? It is difficult to say, but maybe a solution may perhaps be the flexibility and openness to the future, with the acute perception of what the future may very well be eventually. Nobody can truly understand the future, however, many people can be more attuned to what to expect and behave accordingly. Right now, this power is extremely often reserved for younger leaders, like Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar. With all their increased understanding of how technology has changed and developed, and how society has changed along with it, they've got a significantly better sense of the direction in which the world is going as well as how to align with that direction. They also have an elevated sensibility to the circumstances, and may often easily keep up with what is going on beyond their country.
