If you’re an electronics or electric product manufacturer, you have the ethical responsibility to deal with the electronic wastes generated in your factories. To give you that responsibility on a mandatory basis, the Central Pollution Control Board issues the EPR License.

Also known as the E waste management license, the EPR License is bestowed on not just the electrical and electronic manufacturers, but also e waste management companies. As per the regulations, in order to retain a electronics manufacturing business, the company has to:

  1. Dispose of electronic waste that it generates

  2. Provide recycling services for the electronic wastes, and

  3. Work towards the betterment of the environment

But all that comes after you get the  EPR License. So, through this article, you’ll know how to get EPR registration certificate in India.

Step by step to obtain EPR Certificate in India

In order to get the certificate for e waste management, follow the simple and conventional steps like you would for any other business license. It’s:

  1. Get the documents ready: One of the most important step is to get ready with the required documents. While the application is checked by the CPCB, it’s the documents that get the proper assessment.

  2. Fill the application of EPR certification: You can download the EPR certificate format for the application online, and then fill it by hand. Make sure that you don’t make any mistakes to it. If they happen, take another printout and re do it. Much like any government application, one scrub of the pen or one overwriting is bound to get your application rejected.

  3. File the application of EPR registration online: If you have a choice, you can also file the EPR application online. But you’d still need to submit the offline application along with the following documents:

  • Address proof of the electronics factory

  • Legal documents associated with the director or exporter

  • Contact details of the applicant

  • PAN Card copy

  • Details of the authorized signatory

  • Product details including the model numbers

  • BIS license copy

  • RoHS license details

  • Recycler details

  • How much E waste your products would generate

  • Budget spend of e waste management.

  • Awareness programme details

  • EPR plan

  • Agreement that you’ve signed with the recyclers

  • Website content containing the blogs related to E waste management.

Conclusion

EPR License is not just an authorization, it’s a responsibility towards the consumers, and the environment that you have to accept. Through this article, we have told you how you can get it easily. If you still have any queries, feel free to reach out to our experts.
