A Look Into the Future: What Will the the best charcoal smoker Industry Look Lik

The hookah, also referred to as the water pipe, is a four-part device consisting of a base or smoke chamber that contains water, a bowl for the tobacco and the heat source, a pipe and a hose. As smoke is drawn from the hose it creates a pressure difference that pushes the air past the heat source and heats the tobacco. The smoke is then pulled through the water and into the smoke chamber. Now the smoker can inhale it in great volume.

In 2004, Smokeshop Magazine reported there were top rated charcoal smokers between 200 and 300 new hookah cafes in the country since 1999. Most of these cafés are located near colleges. The water pipe has become a rapidly growing trend among college students, and has health experts and doctors highly concerned. With the common misconception that hookah smoking is safer for you, more young adults are beginning to take up the habit free of guilt.

To smoke the hookah, you take hold of the hose and suck. This works because when you suck on the hose, it lowers the air pressure within the hookah's vase and draws the smoke down to it, even though the hose has no direct contact with the tobacco bowl itself. The smoke comes down from the bowl through a metal stem running through the center of the hookah. The bottom of the stem sits in a vase, which is filled with enough water to submerge it. When you draw the smoke from the bowl, it emerges from the stem underwater. That eventually turns the water brown, and some claim this removes harmful impurities from the smoke. The smoke then rises up out of the water, collecting in the vase's air space. At the top of the vase is the opening for the hose, and it is from here that smoke is drawn up through the hose, into the mouthpiece and into the smoker.

Clean your hookah pipe. Even if your pipe is brand new, wipe it clean with a damp cloth. Residue in and around the glass bottle or clay bowl can give smokers an unpleasant taste. Take apart each section of the hookah pipe and clean it. Thoroughly clean the rubber stopper of your hookah pipe to ensure a tight seal.

One of the oldest myths surrounding the hookah came from Turkey, where it originated, claiming that the water filters out the chemicals and toxins in the tobacco and allows the smoker to enjoy the full flavor of the tobacco. It is another common misconception that hookah smoking isn't addictive and therefore is gaining popularity at an alarming rate.

What makes hookah smoking so much worse for you than cigarettes is that hookah smokers tend to inhale longer, and take in much more volume than a cigarette smoker. New studies show that one hookah session is the equivalent to smoking about 100 cigarettes. It has been long believed that the hookah filters out the toxins and makes the tobacco safer, which simply isn't true. While is agreed by users and researchers alike that the nicotine becomes filtered as it goes through the pipe, scientists are now saying that the amount of filtration is minimal and enough passes through to become addicted.

New studies are showing that hookah smoking releases over 8 percent more carbon monoxide than regular cigarette smoking, which is a large contributor to cardiac disease. Other serious effects include emphysema, bronchitis, heart disease and various types of cancer. Not only are there the same dangers that come with cigarette smoking, but several new ones that come from the charcoal in a heating element which causes more carbon monoxide, and introduces new harmful chemicals.
