media Caption Legalising Weed Canada Story. More than a year ago, Canada made recreational cannabis legal.

Canadian health regulators on Thursday expressed concern that the number of people using medical cannabis at home is on the rise. The data is after demonstrating a significant increase in the mean daily output allowed by healthcare professionals.

Practitioners are allowed to allow enrolled patients to grow a limited amount for personal use at home, but regulators say such a permit is 25.2 grams in October 2018. At the end of March this had risen to no less than 36.2 grams.

Meanwhile, data shows that average purchases by enrolled patients who can purchase pots from licensed manufacturers and federal health care providers remain low at 2-2.1 grams per month.

Deepak Anand, Materia Ventures Chief Executive Officer, said:

With no special restrictions on personal production, Health Canada is under increasing pressure to raise awareness of abuse in its programs.
