Tube packaging is an economical means of shipping specialty makeup to consumers. Tubes can sometimes be made from paperboard or other inexpensive materials to hold as few as 3 ounces of a specialty makeup or as many as 270 ounces. This means that the company can now provide smaller individual tubes or small samples of more expensive specialty makeup to attract first-time users, as well as continuing to provide larger volume tubes of more affordable makeup for repeat customers. While tube packaging continues to gain popularity with department stores and online retailers, this type of packaging is becoming increasingly popular with makeup artists and makeup artists as well.

What exactly is tube packaging ? This type of packaging consists of clear plastic tubing placed inside an outer protective container. The outside of the tube may be colored or printed with a logo of the cosmetic product being transported. Inside the container will be clear polystyrene, which is the material most commonly used for cosmetic tubing. There will typically be a hole in the bottom of the container for the tubing to be inserted into.

When a cosmetic product is placed into tube packaging, it is placed directly over the translucent plastic. The tubes are designed so that small gaps exist at both ends of the plastic tubing so that air can flow under the plastic. This allows the cosmetic products to be filled before they are shipped to their destination. A common use of this packaging is to allow a professional to refill patient care packages with specialized lip balm, foundation, eye shadow, or blush without disturbing the patient.
