Travel Guide - Daweishan Mountain National Forest Park in Bingbian County

The Daweishan Beauty Spot is located in Pingbian County. It was formed by one region- the Daweishan Region and two lines- the Dianyue Raikway in Pingbian County and the new Xianhe Railway. It includes 19 scenic spots. It covers an area of about 50 square kilometers. There are the relatively complete tropical or subtropical primeval forest, a variety of creatures as well as rare and endangered animals and plants.

They are the main tourist resources in the scenic spot. Flowers are in full blossom and trees are lush all the year round. The natural cultural and custom here have special spice of life. It's the only access to Hekou which is a state-level border trade port.  It has the advantages of the important geographical position and abundant tourist resources.

Dawei Mountain Nature Reserve is situated in Pingbian and Hekou counties of Honghe Prefecture in South Yunnan. It lies on the Tropical of Cancer and thus is dubbed as “An Emerald on the Tropical of Cancer”. Covering a total area of 15,400 hectares, it was established in 1986 and was approved as a state-level nature reserve in June 2001. What is mainly conserved are mountainous mixed forest ecosystem and rare fauna and flora species. Dawei Mountain boasts more than 30 species of plants and 116 species of vertebrates, some of which are: (1)-Plants: tree fern, Alcimandra cathcartii (long-pistil magnolia), Amentotaxus yunnanensis, primitive Marattioid ferns, Rehderodendron macrocarpum, Rhoiptelea chiliantha (horse-tail tree, Antiaris, serrate-leaf carallia herb, Cycas siamensis (Yunnan Cycas), Paramichelia baillonii (joint-fruit tree), Podocarpus, Dacrycarpus imbricatus (Chicken-feather pine), Poikilospermum (conical-head ramie), Zenia insignis, Pometia tomentosa (floss longan), Crypteronia paniculata, and Terminalia etc; (2)-Animals: black gibbon, slow Loris, Neofelis nebulosa (clouded or Yunbao leopard), Macaca nemestrina (Pig-tailed macaque), Polyplectron bicalcaratum (peacock pheasant), Guana (giant lizard), boa (python), macaque, sambar deer (water deer), Chinese pangolin, Lophura nycthemera (silver pheasant ), goral, lady Amherst pheasant, Chrysolophus pictus (golden pheasant), Oriental-pied hornbill, and gecko (tokay) etc.
