Using Acacia Wood for Everything

The internet and the ability to purchase things on a whim has become almost as ubiquitous as buying food at a local supermarket. In fact, you can even purchase from from your mobile device and have it delivered too. So, its imperative that the choices made when spending are thought-out and intentional.

An example of an intentional purchase, is like when someone choses an organic piece of produce over the generic counterpart that may be GMO, or grown with the use of pesticides and herbicides. People are making these purchases more often, choosing the products that are better suited for their lifestyles. The truth is that organic non-GMO food is always a good and/or the best option when shopping for food, and better yet when it is grown in your own backyard. But what about your household items, from furniture or your kitchen utensils?

Because these items like your plastic spatula or plastic ladle are inexpensive, seemingly durable, and the market standard does not mean this is the ideal utensil or the better alternative. Firstly, many plastic kitchen utensils are made in China with unregulated manufacturing practices. For some time, BPA plastics were a rampant source of toxicity in everyones lives, unbeknownist to them. BPA, also known scientifically as biphenol A, is a organic chemical compound that was found in a lot of plastic resins used in the manufacture of many everyday plastic products. BPA has been linked to endrocrine disruptions, affecting the hormone and brain chemistry of children and of developing fetuses.

Plastic resins are popular to date, and although not techinically manufactured with BPA, can potentially still pose a health risk to everyone. In many instances, using a plastic spatula or ladle; and especailly a very cheaply manufactured one, will result in peeling and flaky edging, this will get into your food. The solution to this problem, is not to buy anymore cheap plastic serving kitchen utensils. Carefully select your dinnerware and cookware with the right intentions.

Great alternatives to plastic serving utensils, are cookware that are made from solid wood. These products typically are not manufactured with the use of any resin type compounds, sealents, glues, dyes, and/or fillers. The hardiness of solid wood products are far superior to that of the malleable cheap plastic products available on the market today. Secondly, the solid wood utensils are biodegrable, so after years of use if you decide to change your cookware; you can rest assured that your item will compost away at trash mountain. No guilt.

Material Nature is a company that is working to promote solid-wood everyday household items for individuals who want to live a superb quality of life. They have a wonderful collection of serving utensils that are made from Acacia wood. Acacia wood is a tree/shrub plant that grows like a weed, originating from Austrailia, and is now commercially grown and produced all around the world. Acacia wood furniture and household items are superior in texture, durability, aesthetic, and overall quality; as opposed to MDF wood particle boards furniture, and kitchen utensils that after a short time peel, break, and split from wear and tear.

Popoular furniture stores use manufactured wood in their production, and therefore keep their costs low but to the expense of the consumer eventually. Manufactured wood also has been treated with fillers, glue, dye, and possible sealants. Although, an Acacia wood dinner table for example, can range from ,500 and up, the craftsmanship and doneness of the table itself is very dinstinct and unique, coming from a single tree.

There is a growing appreciation for quality goods. People are incorporating the use of natural materials as often as possible, and collecting your very own set of high quality solid-wood household goods is a great start to buying and promoting a natural and healthier way of living.
