The basis of application:

  • Limited contract: failure to complete the term OR provide/complete the notice period – 1-year ban.
  • Unlimited contract: failure to provide or complete the notice period or terminating the contract/resigning from the job before one year of the contract – 6 months to one year ban.
  1. Permanent Ban

Permanent Ban is applicable for serious offences such as illegal/criminal activity or absconding. With the eye scan and fingerprint taken by the authorities, it is impossible to re-enter the UAE if one has a permanent ban whether as a visitor or for residency.

  1. Immigration Ban

An immigration ban means you cannot enter the UAE, whether as a visitor or for residency , for example, are banned or people with deportable diseases.

Difference Between Immigration Ban and Labor Ban

There is another known ban, which is labor ban. The latter can range from six months to a year. Even if this is the case, an expat can still stay in the country as they wait for their ban to finish its course.

What are the Possible Reasons that People Face an Immigration Ban?

Aside from absconding from work, you can have immigration problems because of a criminal record. There are other reasons why the government will give you an immigration ban that is not entirely associated with employment. The following list shows some examples of the reasons that you can have an immigration ban:

Fake passports or visa

Possession of weapons and ammunition

Possession of drugs

Criminal offenses, like murder

Bounced checks

Noncompliance with the UAE Federal Laws

How Can You Check if You Have an Immigration Ban?

If you are in the UAE, you can check your immigration ban status by contacting the immigration department.

If you are outside the country, you can have a friend or a relative who is residing in the UAE to check it for you. They may need some documents like your Emirates ID (if available), passport copy, authorization letter, etc. when they go to a Dubai Police station to check your status if they have imposed an immigration ban on you.
