A 101 Guide On Skiing Essentials

Posted by James Dean on February 19th, 2021

Winters and snow are perfect, until you make it even more than that. How though? Well- winter, snow, and skiing- beat that combination! Can’t, right? We know! However, before going out to ski, or before enrolling for a skiing program, it is important to pack up the most important, essential items that you’d require for skiing. You can opt for whatever it is you wish for while shopping- you might go to a sports shop and get the products after trying them on for comfort and fitting, or you may opt to buy mens lifestyle accessories online and do the entire trial process at the comfort of your home.

For skiing, a few of the essentials that you might feel the need to own are listed below.

1. Ski and Poles

Pretty basic, right? However, how does one ski without poles and skis! It is always a good idea to get your own skis and poles if you are a regular and love skiing as a sport. Not only that, once you have your own set, you won’t have to try and find the perfect fit every time you go skiing. Saves a lot of time, and a personal skiing set will give you that proper professional feel as well. However, if you are a beginner and have just started out, or are not as frequent at the sport, we recommend that you first try out a few of the skis and poles that are available with the sports centres/ agencies and then decide upon buying a new one.

2. Ski Boots

Now, skiing isn’t possible with those regular canvas sneakers that you own, or even the sports shoes that we wear. At hillcrest ski and sports, we believe that for skiing, it is utmost important that you have a good grip on the ground and that your shoe fits comfortably. This is why it is always recommended to get a separate pair of ski boots that are not just a good fit and are comfortable but also have a good- quality sole so as to prevent ‘slip and fall’ instances.

3. Goggles

How will you have fun if you can’t see clearly? Imagine, one isn’t able to see through properly when it rains, how do you expect a clear vision when it’s snowing? To provide a clear vision, and also to protect your eyes from the cold blowing winds and any unwanted injury, it is necessary that you get a pair of good fitting goggles before going on a ski trip.

4. Ski Helmet and Gloves

When trying to buy mens lifestyle accessories online, it is always important to search for a good quality helmet and warm gloves as well. The helmet should be the perfect fit, and should provide optimum coverage, otherwise what’s even the use of buying one! Gloves, a good pair, to protect your hands from freezing!

5. Ski Wax

Now, hillcrest ski and sports does recommend that you always carry ski wax along every time you go out skiing. The ski wax helps to keep the ski moist, but also keeps it moisture- free. This means that it helps avoid slips and prevents the occurrence of rust on your ski set as well.

6. Thermals and Warmers

What’s most important when you go on a skiing trip is not what you wear outside, but what you wear inside. The thermals and warmers that you opt should be such that they keep you warm, but also don’t get wet when you sweat (yes, you sweat when you ski!). Thermals are important to keep your body temperature normal and not let it dip to a fatal low.

That’s it for now. Enjoy your skiing experience!
