Mercedes Benz GLC – The Best Mid-Range Luxury SUV in India

Posted by mercedesdelhi on February 19th, 2021

The introduction of an extensive range of SUVs in India by luxury car manufacturers proved to be an impetus for the growth of the luxury car segment in the country.

With rapid urbanisation and significant increases in the disposable incomes of modern car buyers, the demand for premium luxury vehicles has risen significantly in recent times. Among these cars, the mid-range luxury SUV segment, offering high performance and enhanced comfort, is one of the most popular choices for people today. The Mercedes Benz GLC is the best-selling car in this segment in India as car buyers believe that it offers the most value for its price.

The Mercedes Benz GLC

The 2021 Mercedes Benz GLC is based on the facelifted model of last year, which has received some new changes. Based on the C-class sedan, the GLC is an SUV that claims to be a leader when it comes to offering maximum space and comfort to its passengers. It has the longest wheelbase in the segment and is the widest car, which overall translates into a spacious interior. The Mercedes Benz GLC price in India starts at Rs. 61.13 lakhs (ex-showroom) and attracts a vast variety of customers.

How the Car Looks

Aesthetically, the car does not get major changes, apart from the option of two new colours. The headlamps have now been changed and now are a horizontal arrangement of LED lamps which has replaced the older projector units. The taillights follow a similar theme, with a sleeker and more complex design. The new 15-spoke dual-tone 19-inch alloys look absolutely stunning and do wonders for the GLC’s stance.

The car’s face now looks broader and the nose, sharper, with the new sophisticated headlamp design. The faux diffusers, both at the front and rear of the car, bring out a sporty character in the GLC. Overall, the design language showcases aggression with slight elegance stitched in with sharp body lines; a familiar sight in most Mercedes Benz SUVs and crossovers.

How it Feels

On the inside, you’ll notice that the GLC has gained some rather interesting additions. Mercedes Benz has done away with the wood trim in favour of an open-pore, unvarnished finish. While the flowing centre console remains unchanged, it looks stunning and complements the GLC’s interior vibe. The car also boasts of a new infotainment system that sits on top of the dashboard and includes the MBUX. The SUV also gets a new 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with multiple display styles to replace the old analogue cluster of the previous models.

The GLC is also the only model in India by Mercedes Benz to receive massaging front seats as a standard feature, which can be controlled via the touchscreen infotainment system. Other small additions include rear window blinds and a wireless mobile phone charger.

How it Drives

The engine line-up also does not see any changes with the same 194hp 2.0-litre diesel engine (GLC 220d) powering the car. First driving impressions of the GLC speak of greater refinement of the engine and ensure a far smoother delivery of power. The suspension has been reworked slightly with the facelift to offer the best-in-class ride quality.

Given all that the car has to offer, the price for the Mercedes Benz GLC in India is more than worth it.
