Cleaning essentials

1. Small brush/ cloth
2. Q- tips
3. Camellia oil or any other lubricant
4. Knife cleaner/ soap solution
5. Knife wax
6. Toothpicks

For starters, you can start removing dirt, lint, and gunk from various intrinsic surfaces with the help of toothpicks. You can even attach a tiny bunch of cotton or a cloth to its end to make the process further easier. Especially, if your locking mechanism isn’t working properly, chances are it’s jammed with gunks of dirt. Post this step, with the help of a soap solution with lukewarm water to rinse it down and wash it clean. Use a little scrubbing action via a toothbrush to get rid of hard, tough stains. Dry the knife through a towel and let it air dry completely. Now, with the help of camellia oil or any other lubricant, oil the moving parts such as pivot and blade to keep it easy moving. Make sure you use only a little bit of it. Once you are done with the hinges and other parts, remove the excess oil by dabbing it with the help of a paper towel or tissue paper. In case of rust, you need to follow the same procedure. Rusting or corrosion usually begins at the surface of iron or steel. For the moisture- removal, you need to take extra care and make sure that you remove every bit of it. Opt for a good quality knife wax that removes and protects against corrosion, sweat, powder residue, and much more. The wax tends to form a protective thin layer of water-resistant film that evades dust and moisture. As long as your chosen broker switchblade isn’t heavily damaged or corroded, this should be sufficient to address the issue.
