God on Trial

1. I find the argument concerning God’s sacrifice in order to make a purification of the world to be the strongest one. No other version gives enough truthful and substantiated explanation why the Jews are suffering so constantly from the times of Exodus till the XX century with so great number of victims. However, someone might object that God just wants to slay all Jewish people and is doing it for centuries from the beginning, but they somehow manage to survive. It can be stated on the basis of the fact that most frequently, the Jews were persecuted on a national basis, not by the place of location or social group. I think the explanation concerning sacrifice is the only appropriate and well though out version why God allowed Holocaust; it happened due to the fact that in the other case, we will have to admit that the God really betrayed Jews.

2. In my opinion, the strongest argument against the idea that God woukd allow the holocaust was the argument concerning free will and test of faith. What free will did the man have when he was forced to choose whom of the children to leave alive, and who will keep faith if they all are going to die? Someone might object that suffering is the only way to test the faith, and everyone always has a hard choice to die or keep living. Even in that situation, the man had a choice which of the children will continue to live. The Jews could simply refuse to work, but they would have been killed immediately. I think all of these arguments are providing fully confirmed reason that omnipotent God does not exist in any form or image, for the Jews at least. All the arguments proving its existence did not answer the main question why the Jews are punished by God and how can He remain good after that.
