Must See Places In East Africa - Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania East Africa is one of the leading tourist destination in Africa. A tour to these places means travelling to all the top destinations in the three East Africa countries. In Kenya for example, you will begin with a tour to the Masai Mara, the county most visited park. This park is located in a remote area in the floor of the Great Rift Valley. During the dry season (July to October), the wildebeest migration in this park is unimaginable. You can hardly count the millions of wild animals crossing the Mara river for greener pastures in the park. Visitors are guaranteed to see the big five (lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, buffalo) among other animals such as Zebra, Antelope, Gazelle, Cheetah, Hyena and many bird species. The climax of this tour is a watch of the wild animals from a hot air balloon. The Lamu Island in Kenya is an archipelago which has remained un-spoilt for many years. Being the oldest town in Kenya, this Island is only accessible by ferry or plane. Donkey and speedboats are the only means of transport in this area. However, there is one car which belongs to the mayor of this region. The residents of Lamu are Muslim and Swahili is the common language. During the 15th century, Lamu was a major port for exporting slaves, timber, spices and ivory. This is an ideal place to watch the dolphins, go snorkeling, sailing and nature walking. A visit to the Museum and the Old Fort will leave you memories of the prehistoric period. With only about 700 gorillas remaining on earth, half of these endangered cousins to man are found in the Bwindi impenetrable forest in Uganda, Viruga bordering Uganda and Rwanda and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These animals are rare to see. It is only a tour to East Africa which will give you a golden opportunity to see them regardless of the limited time. A visit to the Victoria Fall(the greatest known curtain of falling water) and game viewing of the cape buffalo in the Luangwa National park both in Uganda is a must see. Mt. Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mountain in the whole of Africa. With an elevation of 5895 meters above sea level, this snow caped mountain can be climbed by any physically fit person. John Rebmann was the first missionary to explore the mountain in 1841. It has three peaks, namely Kibo(5895m), Mawezi (5150m) and Shira (3962). The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is also a UNESCO world heritage site. This Volcanic caldera is about 16 km in diameter and has abundance wildlife.
