7 Best Fun Snack Ideas

Posted by cetwin on April 4th, 2015

Most kids who are left to themselves would rather take more snacks than they should than have three full meals a day. Keen parents could take advantage of this proclivity of children by creating healthy fun snack ideas.

In that way, they will not impose their will to their kids, but will still be able to bolster their kids’ health. Great snack ideas for kids should not be restricted to healthy foods but are not friendly with children’s palate.

If you are to take advantage of your kids’ love in eating snacks, you should strike a balance between getting the right nutrients in and making them delectable at the same time. Here is a list of great ideas that could also be considered as sport snacks that your kids will love to eat without too much prodding.

1. Tortilla wrap with attractive shapes – use small fun shaped cookie cutters and cut fun shapes out of a tortilla wrap. Put them on non-stick cookie sheet. Brush them lightly with a little butter. Sprinkle with a mixture of 3 parts brown sugar and 1 part cinnamon and bake them in a moderately hot oven for 10 minutes.

2. Fruit Jiggles – make strawberry flavored jello by following the instruction on its package and put it in the fridge for about 30 minutes.  Get a can of fruit cocktail and drain its liquid content and add to the jello and mix. Put them back in the fridge until the jello fully sets.

3. Banana Ice – get a couple of bananas and mash them in a bowl. Cover the bowl and put in it in the freezer for about 30 minutes. Afterwards, fluff up the content with fork.

4. Mini Wraps – take a tortilla wrap and lightly spread it with cream cheese and put a couple of slices of turkey or thin ham. Tightly roll the wrap and cut into small rounds.

5. Fruit on a Stick- get a bunch of various fruits such as apples, bananas, kiwis, mango and cut them up in small pieces and add a few grapes.  Thread them onto a skewer. Make it a little more special by adding several marshmallows between the fruits.

6. Ants on boats – cut a couple of apples into pieces and spread them thinly with peanut butter.  Add a few raisins over the peanut butter. Cream cheese can be used if peanut butter is not available.

7. Banana Wheels – get a cup of small treats and put them in a plastic bag. Use a rolling pin or the back of your hand to ground the mixture until they all look like fine crumbs. Cut up a banana into small rounds and put them one at a time in the plastic bag. Shake the plastic bag lightly to cover the banana with the mixture.
