The MBA Admissions Decision Process at INSEAD

Posted by Rahul Singh on March 17th, 2021

INSEAD offers graduate business education in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America. It is a genuinely international school with no dominant culture.

You will determine whether it is a good match for you and work to improve your admission chances by recognizing its international orientation.

It's worth mentioning that when you start the INSEAD MBA application process, an MBA counsellor (not an algorithm) keeps track of everything. They will answer any questions you have, talk about any issues you may have about particular sections of the application, and work with you if you have a tight deadline and need a fast response.

The decision-making process then begins. All submitted materials, including essays, resumes, video interviews, and other materials, are carefully checked by admissions officers to ensure that anything you have deemed important for INSEAD to know is understood. The MBA counsellor then holds a pre-selection committee to determine whether or not to invite you for an in-person interview with an alumnus, usually in their home country.

MBA Interviews at INSEAD

INSEAD conducts interviews with MBA graduates rather than admissions officers. As a result, the interviewee should ask more in-depth questions about the program and expect more specific responses based on the alumnus' personal experience: what did the program mean to them, why did they choose INSEAD, and what kind of career did they end up with as a result? As a result, the alumni interviewer discovers whether you will be a good match for the INSEAD program from a classmate's viewpoint: do you communicate in a way that is consistent with INSEAD's academic and student culture?

After alumni, interviewers submit interview notes, two more members of the admissions office review the INSEAD MBA application. In total, those documents are about two pages long. By the conclusion of the process, the decision committee—made up of admissions officers, alumni, and faculty—will have three detailed accounts of the application available for them to vote on.

As you can see, for INSEAD MBA requirements, there is a need for a strong personal essay. In your INSEAD essay, you should be transparent and truthful and have as much knowledge about the school as possible.
