Google Account Recovery

Posted by john williams on March 22nd, 2021

Google is very helpful in allowing users to retrieve their Gmail account, password and data, if the user has provided enough security information when registering their account. If you have forgotten your password, please try again, paying particular attention to typos, uppercase and lowercase letters, and numbers. Verify that your CAPS lock button is not activated on your keyword.

If you need to recover your account, start on the Google Account Recovery page (previously located at https://g.co/recover). Enter your Gmail email address or associated phone number to identify your account. Alternatively, visit this Google help page for a more detailed troubleshooter support page.

Please note that if you have not used your Goggle account for more than 9 months, it could have been deleted. If that's the case, create a new account.

After visiting the Gmail recovery page, you have the following options:

If you specified a mobile phone number for your account, when you signed up, you can request that a verification code be sent to you as a text message. This will verify that you are the account owner.

If you specified an alternate recovery email address, when you signed up, you can request that a verification code be sent to your recovery email address. Enter the code that is sent to your recovery email address.

If you did not specify a cell phone number or recovery email, or if you no longer have access to that number, you can choose to answer security questions.

If you don't remember your Google account username (your Gmail email address or the part before the @ sign), click "I forgot my email." You will then be prompted to enter your associated mobile phone number or recovery email address.
