Six Sigma training

Six Sigma is a methodology used for business enhancement. It was developed by Motorola in the 1970s to reduce the number of defective products. The goal of Six Sigma training is to make company managers realize the causes that lead to quality issues and help them find ways to eliminate those issues. To get a 6 Sigma Black Belt, those interested need to follow training courses and then successfully pass an exam.

Having your abilities recognized is always a good thing. But what Six Sigma does goes beyond transforming you into a better business manager; it helps you achieve a deeper understanding of how process improvement should be planned and implemented. To learn more about how to achieve business success using tools and techniques that really work, you have to follow a Six Sigma training programme.

Courses can be followed in a number of manners: you can learn everything about Six Sigma online, by reading printed books, and even by downloading mobile apps. The method that you use to learn is not that important, as long as the information you discover is correct and updated; what is important is to pass the International Association for Six Sigma Certification and the American Society for Quality exams.

In just a few words, during Six Sigma courses, students learn about customer expectations, product quality, process variation, and process improvement projects. Another thing that students learn is that any company, not only those working in the manufacturing industry, can apply the benefits of Six Sigma. With this methodology that allows managers to learn more about how to define, measure, analyze, improve and control, success is close.

The concept behind this methodology is simple: companies need to rely on how their customers define quality and then make business decisions that take their customers’ opinions into consideration. Instead of paying attention to the products or services offered by the competition or following the steps followed by similar companies in order to find success, companies should ask their clients what they would like to receive in terms of quality.

And the methodology goes even further, since it does not affect only a company's customers, but also its employees and business partners. Based on the philosophy that characterizes any Six Sigma process, in order to improve product quality, besides happy customers, you also need to have happy employees, interns, volunteers, providers, stakeholders, and other partners. And this is mainly achieved through effective communication.

It is considered that people can play various roles in implementing process improvements within their organizations. A very important role is held by a 6 Sigma Black Belt, a person that dedicates their entire working time to conducting business enhancement projects. Besides Black Belts, in an organization, one can also find Green Belts, people that dedicate just several hours of their working time to implement process improvement projects, Master Black Belts, and Champions.
