Get a detailed Idea about the Three Phase Wattmeter

For measuring the three-phase circuit power, Three-Phase Wattmeter is used. The two separate Wattmeters in a three-phase Wattmeter are mounted together in a single unit. On the same spindle, their moving coils are placed.

Two elements are there in the Three-Phase electric energy meter. The combination of the current coil and the pressure coil is the single element. The fixed coil is considered as the current coils, and the moving coil is the pressure coils of the Wattmeter.

Three Phase Wattmeter Working Principle

When it is placed in the magnetic field, its working principle is the torque develops on the current-carrying conductor. The torque develops on the coil when the measured power passes through the moving coils. Deflecting the object in a circular motion, the torque is the mechanical force type affecting.

The torque develops on both the elements in the three-phase Wattmeter. To the power passes through it, the value of torque on each element is proportional. The sum of the torque on an individual Wattmeter is the total torque on the three-phase Wattmeter.

Three-phase Wattmeter Connections

Consider two Wattmeters are there in the circuit. Across the third phase say B, The pressure coil of both the Wattmeters connects.

Their accuracy is affected by the mutual interference between the three phase energy meter elements. The phenomenon in which the field of two elements interacts with each other is mutual interference. Between the elements, the laminated iron shield is placed in a three-phase Wattmeter. The mutual effect of the element is reduced by the iron shield.

By using the Weston method, the mutual effect can compensate. The adjustable resistors are used In the Weston method. The mutual interference occurring between the elements of the three-phase wattmeter is compensated by this resistor.

Power Meter

To measure electrical power, A Power Meter is one of the most simple and useful instruments when no deeper analysis of the measured data is required. It measures and derives from the voltage (V) and current (A) the most important power results. For engineers and technicians performing simple tasks like standby power measurements, Power meters are perfect. Simple operation on an instrument like a base unit, easy power measurements, accuracy, and fast are the most important features.

Typical Power Meter Applications

For a wide applications range such as evaluation of large current equipment, Production line testing of electric devices, quality assurance, DC or battery-driven device evaluation, rotating machinery and calibration labs, efficiency measurement for industrial motors for R&DA power meter, maintenance, and installation tasks and partly, it is the preferred instrument. For cost-effective power measurement solutions, it is easy and accurate to use. To measure GRID power, it is also used.

With 1, 3, or 6 measurement channels, Power meters are equipped typically. Being the same for decades, conventional ac energy meter are pushbutton-style instruments, these are the basic part to measure the power consumption, used everywhere, no matter how big or small consumption it is. With intuitive and modern user interfaces, where as state the art power meters are equipped.
