Electronic Shelf Labels (ESLs) are used by retailers to show product pricing on closed shelves. A digital shelf label (ESL) system automatically updates the product price whenever a price change is detected from a remote control terminal. Generally, electronic display units are permanently attached with leading of retail shelving systems. Electronic shelf labels provide several advantages for manufacturers and retailers. Product pricing is updated at any time through the day using a single-board computer terminal or remotely over the Internet. Retailers may use electronic labels to incorporate product information such as product name, description, manufacturer's part number, price, and availability.
