How to Keep Your Home Clean Between Housekeeper Visits

Posted by Mavis Ybarra on April 6th, 2021

Keeping up with the housekeeping tasks is a full-time job, but only if you let it be. It is the reason why you hired a cleaner, isn’t it? The extra hands on deck make it all easier to stay on top of the chores. And while your cleaner does a wonderful job of taking care of your cleaning project, you can make their job easier by doing some tasks in between visits. Read on to find out some tasks you can do in between thorough cleaning that will keep your place in spick and span state without breaking a sweat.

  1. Pick Up Your Belongings

Even though this may sound like a no-brainer, it is necessary to pick up your stuff regularly. This includes clothes, socks, shoes, magazines, newspapers and boxes. If your cleaner has to pick up your belongings before they reach the carpet, they will not be able to devote as much time as necessary to clean it. Cleaner floors also mean fewer allergens and germs.

  1. Sweep Regularly

It is a good idea to sweep the floors if not daily, every other day. With dust cleaned away, your cleaner can begin the deep clean straight away. Just a quick sweep in the morning can keep your floors in much better condition. If you accidentally spill something other than water, make sure to wipe it up so that you do not track it through the property.

  1. Keep Your Fridge Fresh

To absorb smells, simply put a box of baking soda in the fridge. Not only does this make your fridge fresher, but it also makes it a lot easier to clean. When your cleaners do not have to scrub away the bad smells, they will have a lot more time to get down to the back-breaking kitchen cleaning. Remember to clean out expired food once a week.

  1. Clean Up Spills

If there are some spills on the shelves or worktops, please make sure to address them straight away. Clean up most of the mess and the professional cleaning company will take care of the details. Another advantage of cleaning up the spills right on the spot is that it will keep the pests at bay.

  1. Pile Your Laundry

Depending on the size of your home, tracking down the dirty towels might be a very time-consuming task for your housekeeper. Make laundry day efficient by keeping all of your dirty towels and clothes in a hamper or pile. To make it even more efficient, have a separate pile for special care and hand-wash clothes. If there are stains that need more special attention, make a note so the housekeeper will know.

Conclusion

Your cleaner helps you keep your home in a good condition, but you can do everybody a favour by keeping things clean on a daily basis. No matter how you do your cleaning duties, helping your housekeeper by doing some tasks in between visits is sure to make your home a more comfortable, cosier place to live.
