What is the month of Ramadan

Ramadan is the Arabic word for Fasting, and it is not month-long abstinence but a complete spiritual immersion. During this time, you fast every day from dawn till dusk, you take time to spend with God in much solitude, and you engage in no activities that are not prayers. Your mind is diverted in many ways, so can your body. But your purpose is not to simply go through the motions, to simply exist. Your purpose is to commune with God. Your blood is not your own, it is the life of the universal blood from which you derive your strength.

The human body consists of three layers; the virtual, the vital, and the etheric. These three layers keep each other separate, but on the Eve of Destiny, the layers became detached. Why? Because there was the separation of the power that an individual represents to the individual on the earth plane and the spirit world; the separation is complete.

For those of you who are Muslim, it is most important to try and make the most of your last days on earth, while they are still fresh and Thankfully, with an eternal reward. The difficulty, however, is that many of us rush into our upturn with planning ahead as to our activities and tasks, only to forget about our boy dreams of an early evening meal of rice and dare to miss our chances of being blessed by Allah. Too many of us forget the real purpose of the Night of Power. It is not about mulling over the previous day's activities and Rasulullah's sayings, but to raise our level of consciousness to the ultimate level, the level of Allah.

Too many of us forget that it is the circle of our lives and affairs that surrounds us that the Night of Power is about. Rasulullah taught us to say, 'Reports of the affairs of my son with his mother, etc." Afshaab highlights that our success will be measured by the extent to which we fulfill our social obligations, like being a father and mother simultaneously, fulfilling financial needs, and the like. All these will be apart from being parents and fulfilling our religious duties. Therefore, one should not look at the Night of Power as a break in routine but as a reverential reminder to pay more attention to those things that will shape our lives in the shape of the next generations.
