Buying a Portable Soccer Goal Has its Perks

Portable soccer goals (portable football goals) make the game a lot more fun. They’re easy to set up and take down, and that makes everything more efficient. Note: We mentioned football goals in this article because some people confuse American football, and soccer, and football – it all depends on where you grow up. However, from now on, we will just call it soccer as we have many readers based in Los Angeles in Southern California. Soccer coaches love portable soccer goals. Why?

It’s the goal. It’s portable. It’s that simple. Not all coaches and teams are blessed with a dedicated space. And even if they are, how many goals can they keep up at all times? In many fields, that answer is two. But in a practice, maybe six goals could be used – two permanent and four portables.

Choosing the right goal depends on a few factors. For example, what’s your budget? If you don’t have a lot of a dough to drop on these bad boys, then you’re going to have to consider going in another direction. Either get more funding, or go with the affordable portable goals.

Goal post size is another factor. Look at the shape and ability of your player. You’re not buying the same goals for tots and tykes little baby kickers as you’re buying for the U19 competitive soccer league. Here are the types of goals available: 11-a-side soccer goals, 9-a-side soccer goals, 5-a-side soccer goals.

Perhaps the material is important. You won’t find goals made out of wood in a public park or on a university campus these days. PVC, maybe. Aluminum, absolutely. Wood? No.  In fact, even rugby goals are better off in steel.  For both sports, plastic is just fine in some instances.

People are still worried about goals falling over and hurting people. How can we avoid this risk? Self-weighted or integrally weighted goals do just this. The goals are built to fall over less. Risk is reduced when the directions are followed. It’s great for soccer clubs and park districts. We must do our best to ensure nobody gets hurt on the field.

Finding a soccer goal isn’t hard. You just have to respect your league’s directions in sizing and material requirements and the organization’s budget. If you’re worried about getting ripped off, find three estimates from three companies. Go with the best value (not always the cheapest).
