LiFePO4 Off-grid batteries are now becoming popular and are already replacing NiCad batteries. The chief rationale is that LiFePO4 has superior capacity to gas, diesel and even electric vehicles. LiFePO4 can be more resistant and weather resistant. LiFePO4 is produced from a mixture of lithium ion and polymer based polymer which give it the capacity to be billed at lower rates than other batteries.
In the past, LiFePO4 was a joint development with Toyota and it was called after the Liath batteries used in the Prius. The main difference between a LiFePO4 battery along with also a Liath battery is that the LiFePO4 uses sulfuric acid as its electrolyte rather than the conventional liquid alkaline battery. The sulfuric acid makes its positive charge, which means it will not slow down or be compromised with the liquid electrolytes at a standard battery.
Although it gets the positive charge, the actual power generated by this type of battery is far greater than what you'd receive from a typical lithium ion batterycharger. So why have LiFePO4 batteries already been adopted? The chief explanation is the cost. It is possible to receive these batteries for less than half the cost of most premium lithium ion batteries. Additionally, LiFePO4 is produced from a synthetic polymer which means there is not any need to add poisonous materials to the manufacture.
On the other hand, LiFePO4 batteries have a few advantages. They are not hard to use, they are inexpensive when compared to other sorts of batteries and they don't suffer from poor performance when they're not in contact with solar power. Also, they are capable of high capacity release compared to standard lithium ion batteries. This allows them to be used to power smaller machines such as toothbrushes.
