The Global Helicopter Avionics Market projected to grow over the CAGR of around 9.76% during the period of 2017 to 2023.

Market Highlights:

Traditionally, as a result of the low fuel prices and large investments, urban heliports and helicopters seemed feasible. However, over the years, the rapid increase in fuel prices (equivalent to one-third of the operating costs), have resulted in only a few operational passenger helicopters. Despite such deterrents, the global helicopter avionics market has thrived and progressed. It has also been projected that the manufacturers of the civil or business helicopters will witness a growing demand, during and post the forecast period. The market for global helicopter avionics is estimated to grow at 8 % CAGR during the forecast period.

On the basis of region, the market is segmented into America, Asia Pacific, Europe, and Rest of the World. In the North America region, there is a significant investment by OEM’s and component manufacturers in R&D of advanced avionics. This growing inflow of investment will result in the growing demand for global helicopter avionics market. This will drive the market in Asia Pacific region. In Europe, the original equipment manufactures (OEMs) and tier-1 suppliers are investing in emerging technologies.

For instance, Rockwell Collins and Honeywell Aerospace have developed an advanced cockpit technology, to deal with the challenges of rotary-wing military aircraft operating in degraded visual environments. In 2014, Honeywell developed the SVAB system with US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), in which they operated a Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk in a degraded visual environment. The system used a sensor-impartial approach, and consisted of multiple sensors and databases to create an integrated 3-D environment for pilots. SVAB enables the pilot to look at a synthetic environment of obstacles and help the aircraft land safely, thus providing better situational awareness.

Similarly, in 2014, Rockwell Collins completed a DARPA program to develop a SVAB that combined landing zone sensor data with the terrain and obstacle data to produce an integrated 3-D view of the operational environment. During the same period, USAF helicopters were equipped with this technology.
