This depends on the couple and the two people involved in it. Neither of us did as we both wanted to have just a wedding ring, but if one of us had wanted one, we would have done that.

We have lesbian friends where they both had them, and they both added a wedding ring. I don’t think gender actually has much to do with a desire for jewelry, although cultural assumptions around it influence taste, of course.
