At last, Windows 10 is here. Whether you are thinking of upgrading or have already upgraded, here are the new features that you will enjoy in this operating system.

1. Free Upgrade
Perhaps one of the most talked about new development about Windows 10 is the completely free upgrade. That’s right—Windows 10 can be yours at no charge for one year if you are upgrading from Windows 7, Windows 8.1,or Windows Phone 8.1.

2. Start Menu
Hooray—Microsoft has reinstated the beloved Start Menu in Windows 10. Half of the menu is very similar to the Windows 7 layout, except for Live Tiles.

3. Xbox app and streaming
Are you a gamer? Listen up. Windows 10 comes with the Xbox app, letting youplaymultiplayer games between your PC and an Xbox One. What’s more, Windows 10 allows you to stream games from your Xbox Box.

4. Universal Apps
If you use more than one Windows device, then this is a welcome feature. Apps will now look the same across all your devices. Data can likewise be saved and synced automatically using OneDrive.

5. Cortana
Have you heard of the digital assistant, Cortana? It’s a headline feature of Windows 10, rivaling Siri. Cortana has been on Windows Phone for quite some time, and now you can also use it on your PCs and tablets. It sits right next to the Start button, but of course you can also start it simply by saying, "Hey Cortana." What’s interesting about this digital assistant is that it’s customizable. You can edit what it knows about you to further improve its service.

6. Edge Browser
Replacing Internet Explorer in Windows10 is a new web browser called Edge, which is designed for interoperability. It features annotation abilities and a reading mode, and can integrate with Cortana for additional information.

7. More Enhancements
Users who participated in the Windows Insider program told Microsoft what changes they hope to see, and Microsoft listened. Windows 10 now has unified settings as it runs across devices. No more separate PC settings and control panels.

8. Windows Phone
Windows Phone 10 is available for smartphones and small tablets. It looks similar to Windows Phone 8, except that its Action Center can be synced with your other devices. You can also reply to messages in-line and even float the keyboard around the screen.

9. HoloLens
Did you know that Windows 10 is the world’s first ‘holographic’ operating system? It allows developers to build holographic experiences right here in the real world, working with HoloLens—the first untethered holographic computer ever.

10. Virtual Desktops (Task View)
With Windows 10, you can switch back and forth between multiple virtual desktops or open apps. Organize them how you want.
