Explore Zambia Zambia is an African country that is landlocked in nature. It's found on the Southern part of Africa. The capital city is called Lusaka and it's located in the south- central part of the country. It gained independence in 1964 from the British and the first president was the famous Kenneth Kaunda who is still living. The name of the country was derived from River Zambezi the biggest river in the country. The country neighbors countries like Mozambique, Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe to the south and Angola to the west. Zambia has a tropical wet and dry climate. Summer comes on the month of September to November and the rainy season begins on November to April. This has made the country a stop over for many visitors who are interested in seeing the mighty Victoria, Zambezi and Kalambo Falls. The Zambezi falls fall about 100 metres over 1.6 kilometre wide Victoria Falls. The falls drain into the flowing Lake Kariba. Visitors can also observe the Zambezi Valley that runs across the southern border. The valley is both very deep and wide. Zambia is usually flat on the northern part with a nice spectacular view of the wide plains. There is Barotse Floodplain on the western part and the flood every December to June. This floods harbors agricultural production and affects the lives of people during the entire period. The eastern part of the country is open to the plateau that extends between the Zambezi and Lake Tanganyika valleys. These plateaus are under conservation of World Wildlife Fund as part of now what are known as Central Zambezian Miombo Woodlands Eco-region. Jobs In Zambia
