Paphos in Cyprus ? Well Worth a Visit

Paphos in Cyprus is one of the few tourist areas on this Island of Love which remains open during the winter months and with good reason as there are so many excellent alternative activities in Paphos available to visitors who are not solely reliant on the beautiful sandy coves and beaches in Paphos.

Paphos has a long and fascinating history and if you want to take a step back in time and do a bit of exploring of the island then will frequently find yourself walking in the footsteps of historical greats such as the Goddess Aphrodite, Queen Cleopatra & Mark Anthony, Saint Paul, Richard the Lionheart and many others.  The best place to start diving into the history of this historic city is the Kato Paphos Archaeological Park in one of the main attractions in Paphos.  Here, in the heart of Paphos harbour, you will find some beautiful Roman architecture and impressively preserved mosaics. Other attractions include the Tombs of the Kings, Aphrodite’s Rock and many more sites of interest.

Paphos is well connected to the other main coastal resorts of Cyprus and the capitol city Nicosia by a modern motorway network and many tourists hire one of the low cost car rentals and will travel across Cyprus to visit Paphos and experience this delightful city.  The airport is just 15 minutes outside the city of Paphos so no more long hotel transfers.  Paphos has seen considerable evolution and development over past few years in terms of tourism and is now justifiably considered the main attraction in Cyprus.

The main resort area of Paphos is centred on the city’s pretty harbour with its waterfront of quaint and brightly-coloured fishing boats, trendy restaurants and café bars and interesting shops selling a multitude of different authentic locally-made souvenirs all which are excellent value-for-money.  It’s time to just settle down and relax in one of the waterfront bars with a cold drink in your hand looking out over beautiful azure blue Mediterranean Sea and let the stress of winter mornings become a thing of the past.

With so much history, scenic beauty, an atmosphere of love and almost guaranteed sunshine it is hardly surprising that many couples plan their weddings in Cyprusand there are several wedding venues in Paphosavailable should you too wish to have your special day in Paphos.

Many visitors come to Paphos to experience a few rounds of golf.  Paphos is considered the golfing centre of Cyprus with its three excellent clubs with top-notch hotels and villas right on the golf courses too. With the lovely Cyprus climate offering more than 320 days of sunshine, Paphos is a golfer’s dream-come-true in so many ways.

Perhaps your holiday is imminent and you’re wondering, for example, what’s on next week in Paphos and are looking for a great day out.  If so then look no further than Aphrodite’s Rock Microbrewery & Brewpub, www.cyprusbrewpub.com, which is regularly considered by Tripadvisor to be the best of things to do in Paphos.  This leading events venue prides itself on being family-friendly and offers quiet corners to sit in the pretty courtyard surrounded by beautiful hilltop views.  There are toys and games for the children whilst the adults enjoy the range of hand crafted beers, lagers and ciders as well as a very reasonably priced menu of freshly-prepared and delicious meals.  You will be able to join one of Aphrodite’s Rock Microbrewery & Brewpub’s fascinating free tours and learn about the history of beer and brewing through the ages as well as experiencing first-hand the entire brewing process including seeing the raw materials, the instruments and the equipment used in this most noble art.  Aphrodite’s Rock Microbrewery & Brewpub is the perfect destination to visit during a winter holiday in Paphos.
