Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Pros & Cons: should you buy it?

[, Music, ], hey! What'S going on guys, i'm nick gray and today i'm here to talk to you about the samsung galaxy s20 fe fan edition. Now i'm a little bit confused about the name itself, since a smartphone fan would probably want to buy something a little bit better than this device, but that's not to say that this phone isn't worth buying and that's exactly what we're going to be talking about today. The pros and cons of the galaxy s20 fe and whether or not it's worth your cash, so let's get to it, i'm going to start things off with a very big pro and that's the inclusion of the snapdragon 865 chipset inside of this phone. Now it's not the new 865 plus that we've seen on some devices. But honestly, that's not an issue, because the snapdragon 865 processor is extremely fast and in the main chipset that we've seen on flagship tier devices this year so far, if you're into mobile gaming or simply want your apps to load as quickly as possible. This thing will do the job, but also that brings us to our first con and on the other side paired with the snapdragon 865 is only eight, not eight, six gigabytes of ram for the base model, with an upgrade option, all the way to eight gigabytes, and That'S pretty much it as opposed to the 12 gigabytes of ram that you can get on the standard, samsung galaxy s20. Now, six gigabytes of ram is probably the lowest amount of ram that i would personally recommend that you get in a smartphone these days for a smooth experience. As far as the software goes, there's really no hiccups here, but if you're heavy into multitasking, you will find that six gigabytes of ram can be limiting, especially if you're jumping in and out of games multiple times throughout the day. And if you want to jump back into a game without having it reload, six gigabytes is going to leave you a little bit disappointed for the second pro here. I'D have to give that to the triple camera setup. On the back of the phone, you get two 12 megapixel sensors that take incredible photos for the standard and ultra wide cameras, and then the third one is an 8 megapixel sensor for the 3x zoom video quality. You can get up to 4k 60fps, which looks really good here. Unfortunately, you don't get the 8k video capture that you get on the samsung galaxy s20 lineup that launched earlier this year. So far, i've done a handful of camera comparisons. With this device and honestly, the galaxy s20 fe takes some really good shot. It'S not yet pixel level, but it's really really close. Unfortunately, there is a con in the camera department with this phone, and that is the front-facing camera on the galaxy s 20 fe samsung is using a 32 megapixel sensor here that can also record 4k at 60 fps, but unfortunately, the results from the front-facing camera really Aren'T that great now my main issue with a selfie camera may not have to do with the hardware, but the software that samsung is using, since they apply a beauty mode to your pictures that can't fully be turned off. So the images are a lot softer than what they are if you use a secondary camera app or even install the gcam camera app from google's pixel devices to take your selfies on this phone for the next item in the pros column, i'd have to give that To the color options that samsung's made available for the galaxy s20 fe, what you're looking at right here is the navy option, but they also have red orange white mint and lavender, so pretty much a color for whatever your style is, of course, you're, probably going to Slap a case on this anyways, but if you decide to pick up a clear one, you're going to be able to show off the color option that you choose, which honestly i wish more manufacturers would give this many options in a device. Now, while i do love all the color options that samsung's given for this device, my next con on the list is the plastic back cover on the phone. It'S a frosted plastic finish which doesn't really feel that great and after just a couple days of with the device, i have developed a couple different scratches on it since plastic, scratches a lot easier than glass. Does my recommendation put a case on it, but if you want something that feels a little bit more premium, you're gon na have to spend more money than what the galaxy s20 fe actually costs for the next pro on my list. There'S the 4 500 milliamp hour battery if you're, looking for a smartphone that can go all day and then some with about 30 to 35 battery charge left over at the end of a long workday. The galaxy s20 fe is the device for you. On top of that, they also threw in wireless charging, and they do have 25 watt fast charging, though that's really not that fast, when compared to other devices that have come out this year with 45 and even 65 watt fast charging. The next item on my cons list is going to be a little bit controversial because, honestly, a lot of people really love one ui and the software experience that samsung's been giving its phones for the last couple years. Unfortunately, in my book, when ui has gotten quite a bit more bloated than it needs to be over the last year and a half and also samsung's been including ads in their first party applications, if you open up the weather app, if you open up samsung pay Or even the samsung app store on this device, you're going to be treated with ads, something that you typically don't see on devices from other manufacturers. On top of that, samsung is really not that great at rolling out timely updates for its smartphones when it comes to the next big version of android. Website is launching with android 10, even though android 11 is already available and based off of samsung's update history. It'S probably going to be about six to eight months in order for samsung to roll out the android 11 update to this device. But that's the last con on my list. So i'm going to close things off with two really big pros. The first one is the phone's 6.5 inch full hd, plus amoled display with a 120 hertz refresh rate. Needless to say, it is absolutely gorgeous and a treat to watch video play games or even just surf the web or browse through your instagram feed. I have to say it's probably just as good as any other display that we've seen on flagship tier devices from samsung this year, and one thing that i really love is that it's a flat panel rather than a curved one, which means you don't have to deal With all the extra glare or the mist types while typing on the screen, and then that brings us to the very last pro of the galaxy s20 fe, and that is definitely the price. This phone only cost 700 msrp and if you're lucky enough right now, you can actually find it for about 600 us dollars and i'd. Imagine by the time christmas rolls around you'll be paying 500 or 550 for this smartphone when compared to the 9.99. That samsung is charging for the galaxy s20 lineup. This is definitely a good deal. Let me know what you guys think of the galaxy s20 fe in the comments below and whether or not you think this phone is worth buying in the second half of 2020. With all the other devices that are currently coming out, thank you guys so much for watching and i'll catch you in the next one [ Music ]. You
