In any case, effective self serviced management of password gives the user the desired independence

One of the major concerns of the Internet and networking users is that of safety and security of data. There are numerous instances where such safety and security has been compromised due to password hacking. Inferior quality password or old and long used passwords are easy prey to hackers and intruders. For such people the self service password management could be the solution to all problems.

Self Service Password Management Basic

Users should always choose their passwords using the widest ranges of characters. This may include texts, numerical characters, special characters and symbols among others. Best password would be the one combining at least one of each of these characters. Using uppercase and lower cases may not be as useful because there are numerous frames that do not distinguish between the two. At the same time password management also requires that the user settles for the smallest sets of such possible values that would be easier memorizing.

Broadly speaking there are two types of methods for password management. One of them is to use the human made password management system. The other one relates to the use of technological tools for such management. The first method refers to the use of encryption method where each character of the password keyed in by the user will appear on the screen in form of stars and such encrypted passwords are not normally available to the hackers. Passwords are also changed over a specific period of time such as 60 or 90 days and many sites including the banking sites ask the user to change their password after a specific validity period. The other method is using software or apps like the in-built Microsoft password manager that helps handle the changing and resetting of passwords conveniently.

Characters in the Password

It has been estimated by the experts that overall a password with seven characters usually serves the purpose. Hackers do not easily guess such passwords. However keeping part of name or telephone numbers etc can make the password weak and easily guessable. Good passwords usually contain one each from uppercase, lowercase letters as well as digits. However passwords should not contain the user name or the login id of the user. It should not also contain dictionary words and should dispense with using more than one paired letters.

Using Windows Password Manager

Among the operating system marketed by Microsoft only the Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and the latest 10 are now fully operative. Other older versions have either taken a backseat or gone to obscurity. It would be good for the users resorting to one of the best 5 Windows password managers available in the market. Of course one can use the password manager to store passwords and other credentials for automatic logging. Else the user can also use password managers for Windows 7, 8, and 10 such as the as the”last pass”, “key pass”, and:”lock crypt” etc.
