Get Serum Ferritin Assay Done To Analyze The Iron Content In Blood

Medical and research laboratories need chemistry analyzers to identify various chemicals present in biological samples. They are used to analyze blood samples for the levels of albumin, magnesium, uric acid, calcium, creatinine, glucose, iron or for assays for thyroid. Modern clinical laboratories require quality lab equipment to perform different diagnostic procedures on a routine basis. Earlier, physician practices were chosen to send samples to off-site laboratories for tests and analysis. This often proved inconvenient and time-consuming for physicians and patients. However, many physician practice labs are now equipping themselves with clinical chemistry analyzers to analyze the samples of serum, urine, cerebrospinal fluid, and other bodily fluids.

One such investigative procedure in laboratory medicine or pharmacology is an assay which is meant for qualitatively assessing or quantitatively measuring the presence or amount or the functional activity of a target entity or the analyte. The analyte can be a drug or biochemical substance or a cell in an organism or organic sample. The assay usually aims to measure an intensive property of the analyte and express it in the relevant measurement unit such as molarity and density. The assays have become a routine part of modern medical, environmental, pharmaceutical, forensic or many other businesses at various scales from industrial to curbside or field level.

An assay is never an isolated process and must be combined with pre and post analytic procedures. A variety of assay approaches can provide information on a cell populations proliferating activity and capability. The most direct means of measuring cell proliferation is to count the number of cells present. Whereas cell number is an absolute measure of cell proliferation, metabolic activity is more a measure of cell health. Combining several assays can yield more detailed view of cell activity. For an instance, in cancer drug discovery, the goal may not be to cause cell death but simply to knock down the metabolic and proliferating activity of a cell stasis being the desired outcome.

Ranging from serum ferritin assay to enzymatic homocysteine (Hcy) assay and Vitamin D assay, the assays are very highly commercially demanded in research and development sectors of professional industries. When multiple assays measure the same target, their results and utility may or may not be comparable depending on the natures of the assay and their methodology. The organizations or laboratories that perform assays for professional purposes, for example, medical diagnosis and prognostics, must undergo well-regulated quality assurance procedures including method validation, test licensing, etc.
