PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana: Irrigation Facilities for all Farmers Ensuring Greater

Irrigation is one of the most important factors of agriculture. Without sufficient water, it is difficult for the farmers to yield crops. That is why the Government of India has introduced the PM Krishi Sinchai yojana or Prime Minister’s special scheme for irrigation in agriculture. The main objective of PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana is water conservation and management for the benefit of the farmers. All categories of farmers of India can apply for its benefits.

The dependence on rain for irrigation makes the farmers helpless because they need water for farming. The PM krishi sinchai yojana aims to provide water to every field so that no one suffers from the scarcity of irrigation. Along with that the PM krishi sinchai yojana also emphasises the proper management of water so that the farmers can get ’more crops per drop of water.

The marginal or small farmers often find it difficult to buy irrigation equipment like sprinklers or drip. The PM krishi sinchai yojana helps them with subsidies to buy the equipment. The farmers who have their fields and irrigation equipment will also get subsidies under PM krishi sinchai yojana.

There are certain eligibility criteria for the PM krishi sinchai yojana. Firstly, to get the benefits of PM krishi sinchai yojana, the farmer must possess agricultural land. Secondly, it applies to Self Help Groups, incorporated company, government organizations, trusts and farmers’ groups. Thirdly, PM krishi sinchai yojana benefits will be given only to those farmers and organizations which has been practicing agriculture for at least 7 years.

There are certain necessary documents to apply under the PM krishi sinchai yojana. These documents are:

• Aadhar Card of the Farmer
• Identity Proof of the Farmer like Voter ID Card, Driving License, etc
• Passbook details of the Applicant
• Passport Size Photograph
• Mobile Number
• Land Ownership Papers
• Land Details

The application for PM krishi sinchai yojana has to be made online by logging in to the website http://pmksy.gov.in/. One has to create a User ID and Password and thereby fill-up the form of PM krishi sinchai yojana. Under this programme, 75% of the financial assistance will be provided by the Central Government and 25% by the respective State Government.
