What Is Your Interior Design Style? Here is How to Find Out

Posted by Mountain Home Decor on June 8th, 2021

Do you have a long list of home decor preferences? When you go to a home decor or furniture shop, are your design preferences all over the place? If you just can’t decide which one to choose, this article is for you.

Here are some of the things that you can do to find out what your style is and be able to choose one interior design that you will love for a long time:

  1. Check your wardrobe

What are your fashion preferences? Do you mostly have simple and functional clothes? Do you wear your clothes until they are threadbare? Are you more of an essentialist person or a minimalist one? Do you love bold colors and don’t shy away from prints?

That will help you figure out what direction you should take when it comes to interior design.

  1. Consider your personality

Are you the type of person who spends most of his or her day at home or are you more of the outgoing type of person? Do you love beaches? Do you feel better when you are in a clean and calming space?

People with introverted personalities might find their style leaning more towards clean and organized spaces. Minimalist or essentialist rooms can appeal more to these types of people. However, if you have an exuberant personality and you tend to be outgoing, you might feel happier with bolder designs. You might love spaces that have a bit more color to them. You might not shy away from having a navy blue or a forest green kitchen.

  1. Consider what you need in the future

Don’t just consider what you want now. Make sure you also consider your needs in the future so that you won’t have to change your interior décor once again. Spaces are constantly evolving, which is why you would want to go with a base design that is flexible. Choose one that you can easily redirect to another design direction.

  1. Comfort should prevail over style

Choose a style that also speaks of comfort. If you spend a lot of time at home, you don’t want to use furniture or home decors that are not comfortable or are just getting in the way. You would want to create a cohesive and harmonious environment where all your home decor in Whistler and furniture make sense.

These are just a few of the things that you should mull over when choosing a design style for your home. Be true to your aesthetics but also consider the functionality of the home. That piece of furniture or home decor in Whistler might look great but if it’s not going to bring you comfort or happiness, it’s not worth buying.
