What You Need to Know About Vintage Watches

Buy Rolex Watches can be considered vintage if it has been around for more than one year. It is very difficult to classify a watch as vintage without actually testing it yourself. Of course, many people want to get the best deal possible when it comes to purchasing vintage jewelry and so test your watch for yourself to make sure that it is really vintage. There are ways to tell whether a watch is really vintage or not and here are the different factors that will help you make your decision.

First, vintage watches should not be considered cheap. If a watch is costing you more than a Rolex would be priced at then it is not worth having. Antique watches can be up to a hundred years old. Many vintage watches have been around for as much as half a century. Any watch less than 20 years old will most likely be classed as just old.

Next, vintage watches need to have a serial number. The serial number is located on the back of the watch and is printed on the lining. The serial number will give you the year, make and model of the watch. If the watch has a date, the serial number will also tell you what month the watch was made. Therefore, if you are trying to sell or exchange your watch you should check it for a serial number so that you know the correct value.

Thirdly, vintage watches should be from provenance. Provenance refers to the collection of owners who have owned the watch. The collection will usually consist of gold, diamonds, or other gems. Provenance dates back to as far as 1825. Many Swiss watch brands do in fact have a provenance history and many of these watches have gone on to become extremely valuable timepieces.

Fourthly, Buy New & Pre-Owned Panerai Watches should have a certificate of authenticity. Buy New & Pre-Owned Cartier Watches should come with the watch and is usually issued by an authentication service. This is a third party authentication service who verifies that the watch actually does have an authenticity certificate. If the watch is fake, then the third party authentication service will be unable to prove that it belongs to the original designer. If the watch does not have a provenance then it is probably an antique watch and not a vintage watch.

Lastly, any timepieces that are considered authentic should still have their original parts. Most of these timepieces are constructed with original parts that were used in the watch when it was first produced. However, the watch parts that are used to manufacture these timepieces can easily be replaced by reproductions or knock-offs. Due to this reason, any timepieces that claim to be vintage watches should have parts that are 100% genuine. However, if you want to sell or trade these timepieces then you may be able to get a good deal if you search the internet carefully for original parts.
