Linen is expensive than ramie and is more durable. Linen is woven from flax fibres and has high luster. It does not cause skin allergies, resistant to bacteria and molds and has thermo regulating properties. Currently, Europe remains the world's largest producer of flax, and Russia is now the largest producer of linen fabric. Countries that are the largest fabric exporters with regard to linen are: Belgium, Ireland, Holland, France, Russia and Switzerland.

Clothes we wear to impact our personality a lot. Most of us just buy clothes and wear them. Have we ever wondered how these clothes are made? The process of clothes making is quite technical and therefore, each and every step is quite significant. One of these technical steps includes pattern making. Pattern making actually defines the cut of the dress.

Now, exactly what is pattern making?

A pattern is a stencil from which different parts of the garments are traced onto fabric for cut out before stitching and assembling. This pattern making process is shortened in one word as patternmaking.

It is a basic method in which a two-dimensional paper pattern is used. This paper pattern consists of personal measurements of the one who is going to wear. The measurements are taken accurately so that it fits the wearer accurately and right. The same basic pattern can be used more than once. There used to be a time when these patterns were drafted manually. However, since most of the work has shifted on computers because of the increasing demand for clothes, computerized patterns are also produced.

• Draping

Draping is a complete analysis and more like a detailed survey of the figure of the wearer. Draping is a liberated approach which is often used in experimenting. This technique is used by many designers since they do not tailor their dresses for one person. They have to come up with different designs since they have a larger market. Ladies kurta designed by some popular brands will use draping since there are 100 people willing to buy this kurta. There is an advancement in the range of sizes too.

• Commercial Patterns

Commercial patterns are very common these days. They are used by many small boutiques too since they mostly focus on universal sizes and trendy designs. More so, if someone wants to tailor their dress at home which is very common in a country like Pakistan they can. Why? Because unstitched summer lawn collections are very common in Pakistan.

These commercial patterns are very economical too. You can bring a variety of changes in one dress which can change the overall design. For example, cap sleeves instead of quarter sleeves can change the entire look of the dress. More so, these commercial patterns are very good for beginners. Since commercial patterns are easy to find, all the beginner has to do is cut the cloth for stitching according to the pattern.

Pattern cutting is a necessity in Pakistan. Why? Because famous brands such as Huma Collection mostly come unstitched because of which roupas para atacado most of the dresses require tailoring.
