Surfboard Rack DIY // Mounting a Ceiling Board rack

Hello: everyone - it's a buddy Jack here, I'm here today to show you a cheap and easy way to mount a surfboard on your ceiling. I'Ve got my 9 foot Robert August longboard right here. I just picked up a new board, and so I need a little bit more room, so I'm gon na mount my seven foot nerve on a fun board on the other side of my ceiling. This is a really fun project and I'm really excited so, let's get to it alright. So before we get started, I wanted to go through the tools and supplies we're gon na use for this project. First things: first, you always want to use a stud finder and I use a pencil to mark it on the ceiling next thing use drill. you can find out more got a Phillips driver bit that I'm going to put in this for my screws. That brings me to my inch lathe screws. These are self piercing screws, so I use these. I don't have to drill pilot holes into the ceiling I use with those screws, quarter-inch washers and I use these washers around the screws to give the paracord more surface area. So it's got a tighter fit when it's screwed up and now I'll show you how I do that soon. Then I've got paracord 550 cord. I use this stuff for just about everything, including this project. This is strong, durable material, that's perfect, for what we're gon na be doing, and then last but not least, I have two carabiners that I used for this project. I use these to clip the two ends of the paracord leashes, together, along with a couple dots and lashings that I'm going to show you all soon. So, let's do it alright. So the first thing we're gon na do is going to mark the studs in the ceiling. You want to start by pushing the button on the stud finder and drag from right to left mark the stud when it beeps and then do the same thing from left to right right. That'S good! We'Re going to do that on all four corners: okay! Okay! So now that I've got the backside marked out, I'm gon na go about five feet to the other side, to mark my other stuff, because I've got a seven foot board. I want it to be able to fit nice and sturdy in between the two hooks. Okay, now we're going to measure out four strands of about three feet: each a paracord: if use the end of each paracord with the Flint. This will keep your paracord from fraying. I prepped the inch self driving screws with another quarter inch washer! You want to do this four times. Okay, we're gon na tie a square knot on one of our loops and that's just an over-under, not super easy. We'Re gon na do that twice to just loops. Okay, with our other two strings, we're going to tie a bowline on one end and then a taut line hitch on the other end. Okay, so just to review. I'Ve got two with two bow lines on one end and a taut line hitch on the other end and then my other two are two just straight loops with a square knot on each side: okay, we're going to take our loop with our bowline and then take Our one inch screw with our washer on the inside and we're gon na wrap it around, and this is how we're going to screw it up into the ceiling with the paracord wrapped around that way. This washer will anchor that into the ceiling. We'Re going to do that, the same on the other chord that we have the bowline tied in and then the other loop that we have the square knots tied in, but I just want to show you all up close how we'll drill these up into the ceiling. Okay, so we just screwed in one side with our bowline at the top and our taut line hitch at the bottom. Now we're going to take the other loop that we tied our square knot with the paracord with and we're going to drill it about two and a half feet horizontally from where we drilled an other one. Also, still in between the two marks that we marked our stubs in okay, now we're going to do the exact same thing. On the other side, again, I'm going to start with the bowline around the screw, with the washer and the taut line hitch on the bottom. I'M going to line it up in between the two marks that I made with the stud finder. Okay, now that we have both sides of our surf rack paracord up on the wall, we're going to use those carabiners. I was talking about in the beginning to clip them together, so this is going to create the cradle that we'll be able to slide the surfboard into okay. Now we're gon na do the same thing to the other side. Just take your carabiner and then you're gon na clip your two loops that you made together. Okay, the reason I used a taut line hitch is because this is a knot that we can adjust. Then it'll still stay taut when we put the surfboard on top here. So this is where you can adjust how high up you want your surfboard or hi love how low you want it depending on if your surfboard has a really big Walker or not all in all, your surf rack should look about like this. Alright, so the moment we all been waiting for we're gon na put the surfboard in the surf rack. So what we do is we insert it nose first into the top, let that rest there and then we'll come here and I'll put this in between the fins. So it doesn't slip and we'll clip each side alright. So here, as you can see, we've got both sides up for the surf rag off to the room on the top, maybe for a wetsuit or something else. Okay, everybody. Thank you so much for watching. I hope that you're able to do this in your house just as well, if you have any questions, comment below and I'll see you soon,
