Although largely following the same story line as the original animated classic, the live-action adaption does contain some differences, most notably with regards to the gender and ethnicity of several characters. Jock, who is male in the animated film, is female in the new version, while Aunt Sarah's cats - originally female Siamese cats called Si and Am - are now male Devon Rex cats called Devon and Rex.
