Reasons to Contact a Slip Specialist For Blue Slips

One of the first images to enter one's mind when talking about Moonah is the Blue Slip. The "slip" is a slip that occurs on a property and has nothing whatsoever to do with "slips." However, a lot of people do know about the slip and what it represents. Also know as the "slipping red slip," the Blue Slip is not something that is limited to only one property. It can occur anywhere where "red paint" (the paint that comes on when a structure is newly constructed) meets new or old concrete.

The term "slip" may not mean much to some, but to others, the Blue Slip is a very serious issue. For example, construction experts, engineers, and code inspectors are often called upon to evaluate and inspect structures that have received the blue slip. Inspectors are not always concerned with the property owner's insurance claim or liability issues. Instead, they are required by law to take a look at the building's foundation, walls, interior and exterior walls, and other portions of the property to determine whether or not it may cause someone physical harm or property damage in the event of an earthquake or flood.

Blue slips, as well as "slips," can occur for a number of reasons. For example, after a structure is poured or built, the work may have created cracks that have caused water to seep into the structure. This is typically a minor problem that does not require any repairs. However, if the water continues to get in, the structure can slowly become damaged and collapse. In the worst case scenario, the foundation may eventually collapse due to water pressure and/or soil pressure from below.

There are several reasons why structures may receive slips. Many times, these slips are connected to poorly installed drains. Some building owners and contractors do try to use proper drain installation techniques, but many still fail to make sure that all drains are properly connected and running smoothly. Other times, buildings may suffer from external factors such as excessive winds or rains. When this happens, blue slips can occur when ground water is able to penetrate the structure and cause some damage.

In many cases, a foundation slip will simply be repaired by the building contractor or owner. However, in other cases, the foundation may need to be pulled up in order to repair the damage. Even when repairs are performed correctly, there is always the chance of more slips occurring. This is when people who are responsible for blue slips take legal action.

In order to protect their legal rights, building contractors and owners must always try and take preventative measures to avoid future slips. They may want to add non-slip stair treads or other options that can help decrease the risk of a slip. They may also want to change the way that they lay the concrete on their foundation. However, once a foundation has been damaged, there isn't much that can be done. This is when blue slips come into play. Many times, a slip can occur without anyone even realizing it.

In addition, certain structures, such as pools, can also contribute to foundation problems. If an above ground pool sits directly on the foundation, for example, it can create damage. The walls of the pool may become submerged, which can lead to a number of different building and foundation problems. This includes causing the foundation to break down. If the structure has cracks in the walls, the water can also enter the home and this can lead to serious structural damage. Blue slip legal cases can also focus on a person's negligence when it comes to maintaining the foundation or building.

By avoiding slips, building owners and contractors may avoid paying damages and legal costs. By taking preventive steps and making sure that foundations are well maintained, you can also reduce the chances of a slip occurring. If you are a victim of a defective building or foundation, you should contact a slip specialist to discuss your case.
